Did I mention I finally bought my M1911?

Well, not a real Colt but a Taurus PT1911. I had the series 80 crap removed and had it tuned by a gunsmith. Thing shoots sweet and tight! Love it! All I need now is that hat, the 'stache, the Ferrari, the Hawaiian shirt...

Nice firearm! Is this type of handgun comparable to a glock in terms of aim, power, and weight?

I am looking to purchase a handgun soon and this has intrigued me.

Also, I always cringed when I saw Magnum put this thing in the back of his jeans. I do not think I could ever have the kahunas to stick a loaded gun down my crack.

I guess that's proof that it wasn't really loaded

What does one do with a handgun??? I never understood the fascination with guns. I once had to pick my boyfriend's gun (he's a policeman and needs it at work) up to carry it from the table to the safe. I had never even touched a gun before that. I was surprised how heavy it was and dropped it, because it frightened me.
Needless to say I have never touched it again....

Self-defense, to protect your family. Plain and simple. ;)

JJ got it. It's part of the male DNA, right up there with beer, kickass cars with big engines, and football.

With both of the external safeties on (one is passive, the other active) I'd feel totally at ease at doing that. It's not terms of Glock v. 1911 as you can get both in various calibres but calibre v. caliber. I'm a .45 ACP fan so both of my handguns (my other is a Taurus PT145 for CCW) are in that calibre. The 1911 weighs 38 oz. and makes for a nice smooth recoil once you get used to it. John Browning sure as heck knew what he was doing when he designed the 1911 over 100 years ago.

I see. Makes sense. This is why women have x and y chromosomes. I guess the male chromosomes make me like kick ass cars and beer and the female chromosomes make me dislike football and firearms!

LOL, I was wondering who was going to pick up on that first. I'm also sporting a Camaro shirt! It was my birthday so I had to dress up a little.

Ahhhh, my brother in law bought a Camaro 2 years ago. So far I have only heard it's engine roar, never been for a ride. I hope that will change this summer.
