selleck estate

#31 Post by eeyore »

I tried and tried to find Seeleck's property. I was close but wasn't sure which parcel was his. I finally got thru the back door by the county's building permit records and found the address that way from a building permit he had applied for to improve the property. I also found it by checking the FAA records because there is a heliopad on the property registered to him. It is also the old Dean Martin Estate (but searches thru THAT avenue were fruitless)

He says he lost alot of them, but it looks like he still has a good number left.

Trees Sophia

From Google Earth it was hard to figure out what type those trees were! I didn't know until I heard him talk about them on TV.

Interesting John Hillerman youtube video

#35 Post by N1095A »

It looks to be about mid 1990s. Kind of strange seeing Higgins in this one.

A couple of things I noticed about this video, were his hairline. Obviously this was done a while after MPI. His voice, we know the Higgins accent was fake, yet you can still hear it in this video. I loved the line "Congratulations, you've just used your brain to it's minimum capacity". I can just hear Higgins saying this to Magnum.

Hey N,

One thing is that John Hillerman wore a hairpiece throughout the show, so it wasn't done awhile after this, but rather that he decided NOT to wear his hairpiece here. The fact that he did his "Higgins Voice" here was a little off-putting since he was from Texas, but I look at it like this was his bread and butter and anyone seeing John Hillerman NOT doing the "Higgins Voice" would have been confused.

Hillerman as Higgins never gets tiring! ;)

The 18-minute "course" can be purchased for a mere $59.99!

DVR alert (yea, I finally got a DVR!)

4/17, 5:30PM, Fox Movie Channel

Little Gloria... Happy at Last (1982)
The story deals with Gloria Vanderbilt's difficult coming-of-age when, at eleven, she was a pawn in a custody battle between her sybaritic mother (Glynis Johns) and her aunt (Angela Lansbury). Bette Davis plays Alice Gwynne Vanderbilt, Gloria's formidable grandmother. Based on Barbara Goldsmith's best-seller.
Nominated for 6 Emmy's & 1 Golden Globe.

w/ Martin Balsam, Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, Christopher Plummer, Maureen Stapleton, Michael Gross, and our man John Hillerman (as Maury Paul)!

Overall, the reviews look pretty solid. I'll be watching it. ;)

I watched this when it was first aired. I thought it was really good. Did you know that Gloria Vanderbilt is television journalist Anderson Cooper's mother? (of Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN)

Does anyone else remember Hillerman's commercials for Mauna Loa macadamia nuts? I recall them airing often during MPI's run. Youtube has had the ads removed, so there would appear to be no way of viewing them. You'd think that a company would want their ad out there, unless it's too "old hat" for today's market.

Thanks! My Google search turned up nada. I love that whispered "H-Yah!" JH emits when that 1980s chick goes after the nuts.
