Do you know when those pictures of Hillerman were taken, and if they might have been taken around some kind of interview with a magazine or something?
Hi No need to know

I remember seeing an interview with Hillerman back in the 80's on one of those "Entertainment Tonight" type shows from his condo. All I remember is Hillerman sitting at a table on the lanai.

The 3 previous photos and the 2 new ones were done by a Michael Ochs who was a big deal Rock photographer. From Wikipedia.

The Los Angeles Times called Ochs "America's preeminent rock 'n' roll photo archivist"[2] and described his archive as "the dominant force in the rock image marketplace";[3] The New York Times called it "the premier source of musician photography in the world".[1] Ochs sold the archive to Getty Images in 2007....

Hey CR....I noticed in the Getty images pages the info on the photo may say..."Gillis Collection" and the credited photographer..Luther Gillis.

The best I can come up with is Ochs named his photos...Donaldson Collection..here is a link.

Is that a little toy koala grasping the lamp on Hillerman's desk?
Well spotted Danno, that is a little koala ! Great to see an Auzzie influence in the world of Higgy Baby! :higgins:

Just noticed Hillerman is wearing a digital wristwatch .... maybe that answers the "why does Higgins wear a digital watch" question.

Found this one

Image

Caption says 'CBS Affiliates Party - May 20, 1987 - Wife and John Hillerman :D

Anyone know her name?

Also found this article from 1977

and this from 1995

http://articles.latimes.com/1995-01-29/ ... ywood-home
JOHN HILLERMAN, who is probably best known for playing British major-domo Jonathan Higgins on "Magnum, P.I.," has decided to sell his Hollywood home.

"I spend most of my time up at Lake Arrowhead, where I am writing a book and a TV series," he said. "So it's silly for me to keep such a large house in town."

The Hollywood house, which he bought in 1991, is about the same size as his 8,000-square-foot Lake Arrowhead home, but the Hollywood house also has "one of the best views in the city," he said. He's asking $2.4 million.

"I really prefer Lake Arrowhead to L.A. when I'm not working (on a set)," he said. He plans to sell the Hollywood house and buy a condo where he can stay when he's in the city.

Hillerman, 61, appeared in the German TV series "Berlin Break" (1993) and in the TV movie "Hands of a Murderer" (1990).

His Hollywood Home is listed with Kay Pick of Mike Silverman Estates, a Jon Douglas Co., Beverly Hills.

Man, that would have been a damn good investment back then!

That was a good read. It is always fun to read interviews from when it actually aired on television.

So Hillerman thought that Magnum would last five years, thats interesting.

Wow, great links, ThomasMagnum!

It it just me or does Hillerman actually sound like he was the one living a bit more like Magnum or even Mac than you'd expect...

I like to do whatever I want to do when I want to do it. Sometimes for dinner, I feel like a hot fudge sundae. So I go and have a large hot fudge sundae and I don't have somebody nagging at me, 'Eat your meat and veggies.'

Sometimes, when he isn't working... he will simply loll the day away in bed.

So while I was looking up Agatha, I also looked into the Sgt Maj. :higgins:

Born December 20, 1932 in Denison, Texas at his family home:
409 S Tone Ave, Denison, TX 75020 USA
to Christopher Benedict Hillerman (1900 - 1979) & Lenora "Nonie" Joann Medlinger (1904 - 1980)

Mr & Mrs Hillerman had the following children:
John Bennidict Hillerman (1932 - ) married ???

Image
Photo caption says (it couldn't be an error)
20 May 1987 - wife and John Hillerman (Photo by Ron Galella, Ltd./WireImage) *** Local Caption ***
and I wouldn't discount this either

Rose Mary Hillerman (1926 - 2008) who married and had 3 children:

Image

Jo Ann Hillerman (1935 - ) Married Christopher Leonard Tritico, 1 daughter

On the 1940 Census, he is listed as Jack Benn Hillerman
On his birth certificate he is listed as John Bennedict Hillerman - His mother then requested that it be corrected to John Benedict Hillerman - officially recorded by the Registrar in 1970. How bloody curious :higgins:

Also this article from The Denison Press, 1949 regarding John (Jack) and his sister Jo Ann

Image

I would love to find out if he had/has a wife :magnum:

Hi guys,

In a 1990s interview John Hillerman talked about a TV-Series and a book he was writing. Does anyone know anything about it?

Are there any records (pictures, videos) of the plays he did before doing movies? Would love to see him on stage!
