The more I see it, the more I'm convinced. The guy reaching for the nuts on the left side is Lyman Ward (Icepick's accountant Frank Foley), better known as Ferris Bueller's dad. Heh.
Higgins: It's not a scratch! It's a bloody gouge!

I seem to remember another Mauna Loa ad where Hillerman gives a polite "No", despite the fact that she's a looker. That's the one ad I remember best.

Thanks for posting the link. I don't remember the commercial, I've never been on efor paying too much attention to them (thank god for Tivo), but it was interesting to see JH and Ferris' dad.

As I live in Houston I find it surprising that JH also lives there. And to think, I may have run into him and not even realised who he was.

I'd love to send him a letter as well but I respect his privacy.

BTW Mauna Loa macadamias are the bomb!

A native Texan that passes as British. JH did an excellent job in the role.

This statement is sad to me. It sounds so final. As if there is little to no chance that JH would reprise his role if an original cast movie was to be made. :(

Am I just being pessimistic or do you think JH at age 75 would come out of retirement for a Magnum movie?

I think he may just be done with acting. He had the career, and I guess now he just wants to be left alone (I guess).

Respectable wish.

In my opinion, the only way a Magnum movie would work would be a TV movie (which Selleck doesn't want to do) with the original cast (and since Hillerman is retired, no dice).

If its put to the big screen, it'll get "Hollywoodized" and lose some of its luster.

I can predict a few things for the upcoming movie.

1) Magnum will be a chick magnet/chaser
2) Lots of car chase scenes.
3) They'll portray Higgins an a-hole w/ little redeeming qualities
4) Goodbye any secondary characters (Tanaka/Doc Ibold)
5) We will be disappointed by Robin's Nest

Doc,

Unfortunately, I think you are a very intutive man on all 5 predictions. The Hollywood movie has disaster written all over it. :(

6) Magnum's new passion will be to get stoned and play his bongos in the gueshouse while being nude.

Wait, that didn't come out right...

I was going to comment that you probably wouldn't mind, but I didn't want to come off as inappropriate, SL!

Sad to say Doc, your predictions are probably dead on. I'm afraid they might also turn Rick, TC or both into nothing more than the "offbeat, quirky sidekicks" as well, and help us all if they get the crazy idea of turning TM into a surfer and not a surf skier!!!

Guys I can't help but cringe when I think of this. It is pretty amusing to see some of the responses of what they will do, but it is also sad because, as far fetched as some of this stuff is, you know it will find its way into a script.

The only thing good about a bad Hollywood movie is that it will make everyone appreciate the TV series even more.
