I'd love to get this on DVD: The Practical Guide to the Universe was a multi-part documentary on The Learning Channel (now the dumbed-down and completely different "TLC") hosted and narrated by Tom Selleck. He even wears Magnum-like clothing and looks to be in Hawaii! I haven't watched this thing in ages, but it's on youtube. Anyone remember this series? You gotta love the idea of Selleck guiding us through the creation of the universe!
I remember really liking this show when it was airing.
Thinking of it is a bit depressing because the transformation from slick and educational "The Learning Channel" to the C.O.P.S. bonanza that is "TLC" demonstrates how dumb reality TV is more profitable than quality, educational and entertaining programming.
A race to the bottom.
"How fiendishly deceptive of you Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent."
LOL!........Look like TS was sporting his Quigley hair. He does do great voice over work, I would rank him right under Peter Coyote as my favorite narrators.........

Agreed. My favorite is David McCullough though. Love that guys voice. And he writes good books too.
To be honest, one of the reasons Shaw's is my current supermarket of choice is because they run the Florida OJ commercials on their in-store TVs. The first time I heard TS's voice coming from the ceiling speakers, I was convinced I had died and gone to Heaven ... in the frozen food aisle, no less!
While it's still up on Youtube, I wish there was a dvd set of The Practical Guide to the Universe available. The VHS copies are selling for about $45.00 a volume!
My wife and I used to watch this show every Tuesday night(?) or so back in '93--fond memories, indeed.

There's a torrent available. Quality is better than youtube, but you still have to watch it on your computer. I suppose you could burn the files to a dvd...
