I went back and watched a few of the later episodes recently (Seasons 5-8) and I have to say that this is one of the better Magnum episodes there is. I would stack it up against anything from the earlier years, and it is in my Top 10 episodes (easily).

Kenneth Tigar does a superb job. In fact, I think his is one of the better performances from a non regular on the show. He is phenomonal in the role of a serial killer. I also love how, once again, they have the Vietnam link. I wish they would have expanded that part of the script to make it more relevant in the story, but overall it was an excellent job.

Never noticed this before, but Magnum's surfski has the Cross of Lorraine emblem on it!

Hey James,

Yup, it had been on there for a few seasons. I don't think it was there in the first two seasons, but it was on there.

If you look at golfs "Magnum GI has died and gone to heaven thread", you can see it on the surfski in the warehouse.

While TM is leafing through the newspaper clippings in Milton's apartment, you briedly see he's wearing a Seiko Diver with Jubilee band. This differs from "Rapture" in that the Seiko Diver shown in that ep had the Oyster band.

Also, In a strange discovery, I have another MPI item that I never knew. I have had the Buck Knife that is exactly like the one Milton uses in this ep. since I was about 15 years old. It was my first "Good" hunting knife, and I now use it in the kitchen.

Mike,

I don't know what your buck knife looks like, but when we were with "Michael" in Hawaii, he pulled out some pocket knives and he said he thought one of them may have been used in the episode "with the ripper." Are either of these like yours? (Clicking on the picture should take you to the webpage where you can see it in full size.)

He showed us how one was sharp (of the stainless steel ones) and one blade had been dulled so it could be held up against someone's neck without cutting that person.

Hi Golf,
No, the one used by Milton Collins is a fixed blade, and it's larger.

This is the one he's weilding in the final confrontation, and can be seen in his hand in other scenes.

Mike,

Okay, obviously Michael's memory was off. However, there was this one:

But it's not yours either. Wonder which episodes the pocket knives he did have and this fixed blade knife WERE used in . . . .

Not sure about the pocket knives, I'd have to do some research, but the fixed blade looks like the one TM wore with his BDUs in various episodes. Not sure, but maybe in "Unfinished Business" also??

This is a photo of a bayonet for an M-16 Rifle. It looks exactly like what I was issued when I was in the military.
The answer is obvious, old man. Logic is irrelevant. It's simply Tropical Madness. (J.Q. Higgins)

does anybody know the name of the instrumental song playing during the end credits of this episode? Maybe its an Mike Post original.

All I know is the rhythm section is the closet thing to hip hop in the Magnaverse! 8)
I just don't give a damn!

It's an original score by Mike Post & Pete Carpenter.
