Wherever Higgins is right now, rest assured he is paying his highest respects.

I’m reminded of that portrait of hers by his safe at Robin’s Nest.
The news came out around dinner time today - she has been the Queen all my lifetime. It’ll be a different world tomorrow with Charles III on the throne.
RIP your Maj.

Was that portrait Queen Elizabeth, or Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the Queen Mum?

I’d always thought it was the Queen albeit when she was in her 30’s.

I’m not certain, but I thought someone identified her as the Queen Mum many years ago.

I cant find that particular portrait that was used in the show anywhere...may have been a product of the set makers...here is a picture of the Queen Mum, I think around the same vintage as Higgins' portrait. Image and a couple of the queen...Image Image The neclace in the photo of the queen looks like the one in the portrait over the mantle.Image

This is the best I can find, but I think the dress looks more like that of the Queen Mum.

Sorry, credit goes to Pohonu...but why a portrait of the Queen Mum and not the Queen? I know she was popular, but you would think Higgins would be toasting the Queen all those years.

OK...last one. I think this might have been the model for the portrait. What do you all think?

I do remember a post on a episode thread where someone had concluded it was the queen mum. Not sure which episode though but what Pahonu says does ring a bell.
Does seem odd that Higgins would have a portrait of the Queen mum and not Queen Elizabeth however.

I'd bet the production staff probably didn't know that wasn't the queen. I had always assumed the portrait was of Queen Elizabeth.

Most people only giving that portrait a cursory glance in episode would assume it was QEII as did I !
