Which of the hats sold currently is more like the one TM wore?

Would it be this one?

I can't vouch for how close it comes to TM's hat but I purchased this exact hat for my dad 8 years ago (amazon automatically alerts you on the product page if you've purchased the product) and I can tell you that it's very well made & looks great. Hope that helps even though it's not what you want to know!

I have this one and it's also very well made and has held up very well, but I'm a chick so.... https://www.amazon.com/League-Detroit-T ... ap+detroit

This is the current game day hat of MLB

http://www.mlbshop.com/catalog/product/ ... Fitted_Hat

They are no longer made of wool and they changed the shape of the crown to make them more form fitting. The hat Magnum wore had a more structured woolen design that made the hat sit taller on the head. They changed the design ten years ago. You might be able to find one on eBay.

Also back in the 80's, the underside of the bill was green, with no MLB logo on the back! I recently found a throw back Yankees cap like that, who knows maybe there's a Tiger one!

Random Thought: It always irritated me that MPI never mentioned Detroit's winning the 1984 World Series with what was one of the most dominatng teams in baseball history.

I can remember watching the Saturday Game of the Week, in 1984, when Jack Morris threw his no hitter! Great year for the Tigers! Kirk Gibson was one of my favorites!

Most people are shocked to learn Gibson was never once voted into the All-Star game line-up. Many say it was because he wasn't always the most pleasant fellow, shall we say. I've always wondered if Ty Cobb would have been selected if the game had been around then. He was known for being a mean SOB.

Everyone remembers Gibson's game-one-winning smash home run and subsequent victorious limp around the bases in the '88 World Series, but I like to recall his '84 World Series blast at Tiger Stadium vs. the San Diego Padres ("They're gonna pitch to ya!"). Sparky Anderson was the best.

How symbolic that '84 World Series was: it's the "Magnum vs. Simon & Simon" World Series! :D

Thanks again for the replies. You're never going to believe this....

I went ahead and purchased a Detroit Tigers cap from a local seller. They stated that the hat was new and that they had purchased it (along with other caps) in Honolulu (by the way, I'm outside the US, just for some context)

I was sure I was going to get a modern New Era cap as sold on MLB.com... but this is what I just received :D

It has the green bill underside as described by MagnumILWU. I paid $24.50 (USD) including delivery.

and it came from Honolulu.....You couldn't make it up!

Good for you! The green underbill, white cap liner. fitted! That's the cap! Does it have the MLB logo on the back? I hope not!
