In contrast to Magnum's shorts, those things he's smoking a looong! Without wanting to digress, I guess he's no worse than Telly Savalas doing work on the side for a bit of extra.

He pretty much stopped doing commercials once Magnum started. It wasn’t really side work as he had no steady work. The photo shown is before MPI. Throughout the 70’s, he did a few low budget films, some bit parts in bigger films, a soap opera, and several TV pilots that failed. Magnum was a big hit from the start and all that was left behind. The next step was to break into feature films, which was a really mixed bag for him.
