A lavish 3-acre oceanfront estate in Hawaii? Yeah, I'd think they would go for that! The big question mark would be leaving behind friends, family and "roots". In "fantasy land", I guess if I owned the estate flat out, I would use it as a vacation home. Of course, during the times when we weren't there, we'd open it up to Magnum fans for tours, free of charge, of course! ;)

James,

>>Oh, I see that now Sam! Funny, of all the times I've seen the main house, I never really noticed that foyer/vestibule<<

The MPI crew did a nice job concealing the fact of the doors true destination. As I mentioned yesterday there are at least two episodes when the doors were open.

I found this cap from "Try to Remember" You can see the pillars that support the balcony.

>> As you can see you're correct about a door being to the right (if you're coming from the driveway).<<

It would make sense to have a door closer to the driveway.I know if it was my place,I wouldn't want to lug the longnecks through the main portion of the house.

Thanks again

They played "Cloth Of Gold" again today!

When season 4 of Five-O gets released on DVD, those of you who like to post screen caps are going to have a field day. I think 75% of the episode takes place at the estate. And that's not even mentioning the parts where they show the Valley of the Temples and the pier where T.C. keeps his chopper.

Sounds good, I'll be looking out for that grundle.

It's funny that they used the estate as often as they did. These two episodes in season two were only four episodes apart. They don't talk about the owner in Forty Feet High and It Kills (2.3), but in Sweet Terror (2.7) the owner seems to have been living there a long time, mentioning that he has been in the islands for 30 years if I remember right.

Since MPI and HFO exist in the same "universe" (as McGarrett is mentioned in a couple of MPI episodes), this could be considered the owner of the estate before Robin purchased it. We know Higgins arrived in '72. Of course this also presents some problems. What was Wo Fat doing living on the estate in 1980? ;)

They just played the exact same episode of the A-Team, twice, right in a row!

Hmm. Maybe "Cloth Of Gold" will be on next!

If Robin Masters is Wo Fat, and Higgins is Robin Masters, then Higgins is Wo Fat! Who knew? :P

In Sweet Terror the owner of the Estate is Mr. Quon Li, a friend of McGarrett's. At the time I was thinking that he wasn't supposed to be the owner of the estate in the prior show, Forty Feet High and It Kills. But I suppose that since the owner wasn't mentioned in that first show, it could be thought of as Mr. Quon Li's place then too. So it actually works out I think.

Mr. Quon Li is a good guy. In Sweet Terror he was being forced by Red Chinese agents to play host to themselves, a former nazi, and a South American man from an unnamed country. His family in Shanghai was threatened if he didn't go along with these people. And in Forty Feet High and It Kills he could have been the one hosting the "seminar for the free worlds ten greatest minds on the subject of genetic engineering." I don't know why I didn't consider that before.

grundle, do you remember who owned the estate in Cloth of Gold?

It was owned by the character named "Wallis." Here's a description of the episode:

http://www.mjq.net/fiveo/5-0log4.htm

92. Cloth of Gold ***

Original air date: 2/15/72

Three wheeler-dealer types all die horrible, mysterious deaths. The first of them is the faggy Ralph Mingo (Jay Robinson, who played the emperor Caligula in the film Demetrius and the Gladiators), the second is the arrogant stud Fred Akamai Loy (Ray Danton) and the third is the shifty Wallis (Jason Evers). The party during the teaser where Mingo gets knocked off is attended by "con men, grifters, pimps, and assorted playmates" according to Danno. Zoulou keeps staring at Mingo's fish and Danno asks him if there is some "deep Hawaiian symbolism" involved. Wallis calls Kono a "big kahuna" and says, "You're crazy out of your Kanaka head." The "weapon" turns out to be an extremely toxic shellfish (same name as the title of the episode) with which Jack Manoa (William Valentine), seen as servant to the threesome, knocked them off because they corrupted his daughter ("your filth became her filth") with drugs. A video tape machine which the three used to film her making home-made porno is seen. Wallis says to Danno, "Some like to play, some like to watch" and comments if he showed some of the tapes, "you'd probably have me pinched for pornography." Yankee Chang plays the cook. A surprise ending where McGarrett steps in after Danno has done most of the work! A couple of real dates are seen -- the tag on Mingo's body says 8/3/71 and a threatening card says Akamai's birth date is July 6, 1929 and that he will die on September 10th. One of Zoulou's favorite episodes.

Finally!!! My local retro station decided in their infinite wisdom to replace the daily reruns of Magnum, PI with Green Acres a couple of weeks ago, so I have been trying to catch their reruns of Hawaii 5-0 every day to see if it is an episode with The Anderson Estate. "Woe To Wo Fat" just came on and five minutes in I have already seen two great shots of the Estate plus a shot of the Mountain side bunker Higgins was kidnappped to in "J. Digger Doyle".......

I can't find the post about this right now, but someone advised about a Robin's Nest scenery add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator Version 9. I downloaded it a while back but never could get it to work for me. Then I was advised there was a fix, so I downloaded that, and though I never really got it to "work" (it crashed me every time), I was still able to spin around and see what this person had "created" as a replica of the estate.

Well, frankly, I wasn't impresssed! I tried this myself (creating a Robin's Nest with EZ Scenery), some of you may recall when I posted pictures of what I had done, and once I saw this other one, as lousy as mine was, it was better, at least in terms of the buildings there and the elevation -- all this guy's buildings were 10-20 feet up in the air in my MSFS. I think this other creator had the dogs or something? but I couldn't find them.

Anyway, if anyone wanted to know, I was able to view that other person's Robin's Nest, and based on what I know of available items to add to scenery and how one could then fly around over it, my pitiful attempt was truer to what we here know and see of the buildings and estate property. At least I had the cyclone fencing at the beach . . . .

Just my two cents' worth for tonight, for whatever that's worth, and probably not much . .

yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah . . . .

golf

P.S. Here are the pictures of the other guy's Robin's Nest:

Here's mine:

Yours is much, much better Golf. If I could just get my darn Flight Simulator X to work I would ask how to add it on. It really ticks me off that every few years when Microsoft comes out with a new Flight Simulator, I find out my driver isn't correct! I refuse to buy a new computer every three years and will figure this out yet. Perhaps all those computer nerds out there that have been calling Bill Gates "The Devil" all these years are on to something...........
