Oh, EXCELLENT find. And here's a cross-reference:
From p. 111 of Larry Manetti's "Aloha, Magnum":
"Tom was on The Merv Griffin Show, and we surprised him. While we was being introduced by Merv, John Hillerman walked out. About five minutes later, Roger strolled onto the stage. Then I came flying up from the audience screaming. Tom was overwhelmed. He thought we were all on vacation. Merv loved it and enjoyed watching us messing around with each other.
"I was sitting next to John when I started throwing the small pillows from the sofa at everyone. John kept muttering under his breath, "Would you please stop it? Behave." I flung a pillow at Griffin and hit him in the head with it. Then I started pushing John's toupee up from the back and it began to slide over his forehead. I could see perspiration beading up on John, but I wanted to have more fun, and I didn't think I had gone too far yet. But I looked at Selleck and he gave me one of those dagger-eyed looks, meaning to knock it off."
I live in a cave in the Stone Age and have DIALUP, so I will have to wait to see this when I go to work next week.....*whine*

OMG this is torture! I can't watch the video! Does anyone else on MM have a Mac? This is the first time I've tried to view a Magnum Mania video since switching to my MacBook Air and the videos don't work. They load, play for about 2 seconds with no sound then stop. Even when you skip ahead to further into the video, same thing - plays video without audio for 2 secs then stops again.
Please somebody help!!

Thanks guys. It really is an enjoyable interview. I'm so happy it was found and saved!
For those that don't know, the movie that Selleck and Mosley talk about is Terminal Island, a 1973 exploitation, drive-in film they did together. Phyllis Davis (Cleo Mitchell) is also in this movie. It was so funny to hear them talk about it (in those pre-internet days) in that they really had hoped it could have been completely forgotten about forever! Tom made some comment about somebody bringing in a video tape and ruining their plan. I've been wanting to see the unedited version of this movie for years.

Some of that was commercial cuts, some was the result of merging different files together. The rest was just sloppy work on my part. I didn't notice the awkward cuts until after I posted it. If I had, I could have fixed a few parts before I posted it. My bad. If I have time I'll fix those parts.TheLads wrote:Great video find! But so many cuts in the interview between TS and Merv -- was the VCR pausing and restarting on its own?
Yeah, they don't make 'em like they used to, that's for sure! It was so great to see Merv again. But.... did he really not know what a Jheri curl is?Steve wrote:How I miss those old talk shows like Merv's, Mike Douglas, Dick Cavett where they could do an entire hour on one theme

Maybe try clearing your browser cache? Or, try using a different browser? Chrome or Firefox, perhaps?steveadl wrote:Please somebody help!!

Damn. Sorry to hear it.steveadl wrote:Danno, I'm operating on the latest Lion platform. Downloaded VLC but that doesn't seem to have fixed it, still no audio and only 2 secs before stop.
Will try again tonight when I have more time.
I'm using Chrome if it makes any difference...

That was fantastic! A very special treat! Thanks so much to Max for thinking of us here at Magnum Mania, and James as well. I wish I could turn on the TV today and see shows like this. Dare I say it was a better time? Yes. Yes I do say. Even the ads at the end are better. I remember the Klennex one well. Today I bet there'd be CGI involved.
(It would be nice to have the skips fixed.)
steveadl - I have no problems with the video, although I'm in 10.6.8, not 10.7. That probably shouldn't matter though. Do you have Perian installed? I'd try that - highly recommended. That and Flip4Mac. I wouldn't be without either, although I think Flip4Mac is only for windows media so it wouldn't help for the Merv Griffin video.

Hi guys - I really enjoyed that, thanks so much for posting!
For those who are having trouble viewing it on a Mac, I downloaded it using Download Helper, then converted it using Handbrake. That way you can view it on any device. I have posted it to Rapidshare and here's a link.
