I don't know if any posters read comics, but there is a hard boiled crime comic called CRIMINAL by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips. At the back of each issue they have an article on pulp detectives in fiction and issue 3 is going to be Magnum!

That's what Sean said but CRIMINAL's shipping dates tend to be a little - loose.
