I'm with Conch. The first four seasons were best, particularly 1 and 2. I can watch them over and over again. They balance some serious story-lines with lots of light-hearted moments. Season 7 is just too serious for me, James. I really can't watch some of the darker episodes repeatedly, though there are some gems like Death and Taxes. It seems 5, 6, and 8 rule the bottom of the lists and I concur.

The average ratings in my episode guide for each of the eight seasons:

I was surpised when I saw this, because I consider season #6 the worst, but the numbers are a little skewed because of higher ratings for "Going Home", "Way of the Stalking Horse" and "Kona Winds".

I just don't rank many of the episodes in seasons 1 and 2 as high because there is very little history, or history that changed in future episodes. The introduction of Michelle in season 2 helped, and "Did You See The Sun Rise" put the series into orbit in season 3. Think about some of the better episodes, and to me, most are "related" to parts of Magnum's past.

Wow! Those are no where near my choices. Not a judgement as these are all opinions, but seasons 1 and 2 at the bottom! I was torn as to which to put first or second. I think these were the highest rated seasons ever, though season three is also up there.

This is what makes this forum fun, all the different ideas. I tend to avoid many of the episodes with too much personal history. I like little bits of Magnum's history revealed in the course of an investigation or storyline, but too much and I lose interest.

1-8 all good... however I do have a preference for the early episodes in season 1-3 I miss the early 80's ;{)
