Elks Lodge Pics (King Kamehameha Club)

#1 Post by Thomas Sullivan Magnum »

Hi all,

Heading to Oahu in May, and managed to reserve the Elks Lodge for my wedding ceremony. I've looked online, and can't seem to find any newer pics of the club.. I hope it hasn't changed! Does anyone have any links or info?

Thanks!

Thanks Sam!

I should of been more clear.. Other than the Elks site, I cant really find anything else. I scoured the site before I booked the weddin'

Also, for anyone else interested.. The Elks Lodge rents out their facilities very cheap. Either for weddings, meetings or parties.

I was very lucky, because since I'm on the east coast I had to hire a wedding planner.. Well, my jaw dropped when the planner said the Elks Lodge was one of her spots she uses.

For anyone interested, PM me and I can give you her info.

Hi TSM,

I haven't seen many new pics of the KKC,as far as changes. It looks like the bar area is being restored. Maybe it isn't a big deal, they are planning on 2-3 days.

Are you going to be driving there in a Ferrari 308 with a white ribbon on it?

Say yes. 8)

8) Not surprising really... they're crazy-expensive things, weddings.

Here's the mission statement from The Benevolent Order of Elks website:

To inculcate the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to recognize a belief in God; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its Members; to quicken the spirit of American patriotism; to cultivate good fellowship; to perpetuate itself as a fraternal organization, and to provide for its government, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America will serve the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Share.

Sounds like your standard fraternal organization. Not many of them around any more, it seems. Reminds me of my grandfather all dressed up with his funny hat!

I guess that's a yes to my first question. Anyone know the answer to the second?

I don't think you can assume that it's a "Christian" organization based on the word "God." The Freemasons, for example, just require that members believe in a "higher being"...at least officially. In theory, this can include Jews, Muslims and even agnostics. In practice, I suspect it's primarily Christian though.

Sad to see the renovation going ahead - it still looks like it did back in the day!
