Helo Skids

#1 Post by timm525 »

Hi gang!

I was just wondering what the difference between the long skids and the short skids is on TC's chopper?

{...and don't tell me 18" either! :lol: }

It appears to me that the longer ones were a bit thicker for some reason.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

The larger ones were floats for emergency water landings.

I would image TC had a button to push to inflate them under CO2 power???

That's what I don't understand. Every other helo I've seen with this option have a small tank like the photo above to inflate the floats. T.C.'s didn't.

Well that's why I was asking. I didn't see any type of CO2 tank to deploy the pontoons?

In the pic you posted above, it looks to me like the round cylinder just under the helo is the CO2 tank. Maybe it was removed just for filming. Aesthetics perhaps?

I would think he could push a button in the cockpit and it would inflate them. If he had a tank.
