Resolutions - Cut Scenes

#1 Post by J.J. Walters »

I was able to get my hands on the original broadcast of "Resolutions" (thanks Pete!). As far as I can tell, three scenes were cut or trimmed for syndication and the Complete Eighth Season DVD. I converted the cut scenes from VHS to DVD to Flash so you guys can check them out.

Naval Academy Reunion

Magnum & Lt. Page @ Estate Tidal Pool

End Credits Montage

I didn't remember the Magnum/Page tidal pool scene from the original broadcast at all! It's a shame they cut it, because it's a nice little scene, and the last scene filmed at the tidal pool.

The german DVDs have these scenes and they were also broadcast that way since the re-dub was made in 1994 - 1996. So the DVDs also have these scenes in better quality in english - because the original audio is present as well.

That was great! Thanks James. I wish they would have put the original airing on the disk. I'm glad to have the seasons, but there is SO much more they could have done with this set.

I just love that montage! I was sooooo disapointed when I found it was not on my DVD version of the episode. I honestly feel MPI had one of the very best series endings ever!!
Thanks Mr. Walters!

Thanks so much for all that work. This episode is one of my favorites and I wish it was on the disc in it's entirety.

Yeah.. I'm a bit miffed. There's no reason they couldn't have put that in.

OR at LEAST do it as an extra

You're quite welcome guys! :)

I wonder if the Region 2 DVD has these scenes cut? It is very odd that they used the syndication version for the DVD, especially when the vast majority of the other episodes are the uncut, original broadcast versions.

I must say it was a lot of fun watching the tape of the original broadcast of "Resolutions". The tape included commercials, which were almost as much fun to watch as the episode. Some of them were an absolute riot, what with the crazy clothes, hair and all. At the end of one of the commercial breaks I was floored to see a young Jane Velez-Mitchell previewing the upcoming local news at 11!

Ya gotta love the hair! :)
