"The Bridge on the River Kwai" is on TCM tonight and I read that one of the US Navy vessels heading to Haiti is the USS Higgins.

I caught a little of Bridge on the River Kwai last evening. Excellent movie. I wonder if the ships motto for the Higgins is "Oh My God!"

Awesome movie. I love Alec Guinness.

I was a bit disappointed that it was filmed in Sri Lanka. After visiting Kanchanaburi a long time ago, I was more excited to see the film for the first time. But when I didn't recognize any of the actual scenery I couldn't figure out what was up.

Still, if I can accept Honolulu standing in as Miami and the Hawaiian jungle standing in as Vietnam, I guess I can take this too!

The Arleigh Burke class destroyers are nice ships. They replaced the Spruance class that I was stationed on.

Because of Magnum, "Stalag 17" has become a favorite go to movie for me. "Bridge" isn't as much a favorite for me, but I do like it.

I watched it as well last night. Can't help but think of Higgins' matchsticks when I view the bridge.
Of course this changes nothing between us. I still expect you to respect the rules and regulations pertaining to your stay on the estate. There will be no wild parties, no outragous liberties, no unauthorized overnight guests...

Did they blow up the bridge at the end of the movie?
