Ode To Magnum

ODE TO MAGNUM

There is this great man, he always stays calm,
He resides on Oahu now, he once fought in Viet Nam.

When he meets with a client, he’s asked often to be the vindicator,
He’s not a p.i. – no! no! – he prefers private investigator.

Naval intelligence is the place, his craft he did learn,
It comes back to bite people, Buck Greene often gets burned.

He lives on a magnificent estate, although it is not his,
He bargains with Higgins, to get use of all there is.

Higgins and Magnum, is there friendship not tried and true?
The wine cellar for a month, the tennis courts for two.

What Higgins thinks of Magnum’s work, another scorn spouse,
A poor divorcee, staying in the guest house.

Zeus! Apollo! “The grounds lads, Patrol!”,
Intruders do not pass, for they will swallow them whole.

Poor Magnum, it seems, the lads always chase him,
Overkill perhaps? This impenetrable security system.

A sweet, red Ferrari, Magnum drives it at will,
Top always down, he drives with such skill.

Eluding his captors, it just doesn’t seem fair,
On a stakeout all night, they are so unaware.

After that a swim, or a turn on his surf ski,
Maybe a trip to Diamond Head, or just sit under a palm tree.

A run on the beach, to the club for a beer,
Whatever it takes, to get his head clear.

TC and his chopper, they are Island Hoppers,
Magnum never has gas money, it just doesn’t seem proper.

TC will fly Magnum, anywhere he needs to go,
This does not make TC happy, another bullet hole.

And Orville “Rick” Wright, he will run down that plate,
A quick call to Icepick, and to his daughter a date.

And Agatha, at the ready with a spot of tea,
“Jonathan would you like some?” “No Agatha, none for me.”

I will have a brandy though, however just a smidge,
And we will toast her majesty, we need a fourth for bridge.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, and you right,
My little voice is telling me, Magnum’s “a bit of allright”.

A "bit of all right?"

Don't hand him that wretched understatment. He was bloody marvelous!

(Higgins - Tropical Madness)

Way to go, TC!!

Just trying to "take off" on your "take off", wes!

:)
Isn't the ocean beautiful at sunset? So soft....so peaceful...so romantic!

Great stuff!!!
I just had a vision of the citizens of Rock Ridge (Blazing Saddles) singing this.
"But Higgins, I can explain."
