I believe the remains are at "T6-ext" which looks to be just outside the ell's powder room. The person was a "sub-adult". The Oahu Island Burial Council decided to "preserve in place" rather than relocate. They put a protective plywood box around the burial, installed a concrete cap and a plaque inscribed with "KAPU CALL DLNR" (Dept Land & Natural Resources State Historic Preservation Department) and the identifying artifact number, and placed sand until level with the ground surface.

Last month they discovered two more sets of remains, both adults, in the northwestern part of the property... which is where the boathouse is located.
VERY interesting. I guess the two adults were also capped and marked? I wonder if it was a family?
I didn't realize you were so addicted to pool.

Great to see you back, RG! Amazing new details, as always.

A State Historic Preservation Department Specialist was notified and was on-site to discuss the find and appropriate disposition. Per the Specialist's guidance, the burial was disinterred and placed in a secure on-site interim curation facility with air conditioning. Since this was just last month maybe they'll again have the Oahu Island Burial Council decide what to do?

By the way, maybe this has been discussed but have you guys googled the architect, Greg Warner? His architectural style is about as different from our Pahonu as you can get :(

Me thinks Mary Worrall (and Eve) were either duped or Mary Worrall "fibbed" a bit for PR reasons...

Those drawings look absolutely ridiculous. Two giant mansions crammed in there. Man alive. It's the kind of place I would imagine Buzz and buzzettes running around. :luther:

And the proposed pool might as well represent the Canals of Love.

GAH!

Not that I hate that style, but I'd hoped they'd keep with the original vibe . . .

I really wish the Travel Channel have bought it like they did the house and California Andre did the Brady Bunch house would have been nice to see The Boathouse actually transformed into the guest house the way it appeared in the television series and of course kept the grounds the way they looked during the filming of Magnum including the main house and just made it a tourist attraction as well as Maybe a bad breakfast type of the deal but unfortunately that's just a dream

Mon dieu ! That is a real heartbreaker... :x

Now we could really say our old dream is down ! (except for a little part of it - the boathouse... :magnum: ).

That is a particular cynical end for ol' Pahonu... however, i didn't expect anything else from a land owners who (noticeably and usually) tend to play speculation (the land was estimated at 15 M USD, it wad bought 8,75M USD, how much will it worth after this ?). Finally, from what i read here, the previous commitment not to divide the estate was not kept...

There will just be two more modern-looking rich 'Social Directory' common villas...

Personnaly i was very fond of the old Hacienda architecture of Anderson's...

At least we could still have a fresh dive in the tidal pool with a little thought for TM 'little voice'.
