Seems to be working again. At least, they loaded for me.

Thanks for posting!

Cool, glad it's working again!

As best as I could tell, Magnum P.I. won five People's Choice Awards - "Favorite New Dramatic TV Program" (1981) and then "Favorite Male Television Performer" four times for Selleck ('81-'84).

Any guesses as to which episode they were filming on the Hotel rooftop?

I was wondering about that too, and I think you've made the best guess possible Steve.

We know that the awards show was on 3-11-83, and ...By Its Cover aired on 3-31-1983, so it may have been filming around the time of the awards show. The hotel roof was used in that episode, but not the balcony. And Hillerman wasn't present for the roof scene, but he could have arrived to tape the message. Or they could have set it up to appear like they were working on a scene, when they really were there for the sole purpose of filming the message. Who knows. It was funny though, I liked Hillerman's delivery of his line. :)

I really dig TM's blue aloha shirt in the message. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain I wouldn't look as good with it on. Not many guys can pull it off successfully.

Yeah, I happened to think after posting that the balcony may not have been involved at all. Don't know why I was assuming that. The balcony has a lower wall with a railing above that, anyway.

Selleck, Mosley, and Manetti are all wearing the same outfits in both the episode and the awards clip. I'm guessing Hillerman was there just for the clip, because he wasn't in the scene in the episode. It's nice to know more of the circumstances behind the clip. :)

And yet so many of us still try. I just wish I had the 31" waist I used to so I could tuck them in..............LOL!

Indeed, "By Its Cover"! Good one guys! :)

How about the one from Waialae Beach Park in 1984? Hmm, toughie!

There are two more MPI People's Choice award clips available for viewing.

Favorite New Television Dramatic Program (1981), with Tom and Don on the stage. Breaking Away didn't have a chance. ;)

And it looks like Tom won in 1985, also! In this one, Tom made it to the awards ceremony. Listen to those ladies screaming in the audience. It's like a Beatles concert. So, TS won 'Favorite Male Television Performer' five years in a row (1981-1985).

Those were the days. :)

Nice catch James. Thanks for posting again.

Judging by the delivery of the presenter in the first clip, it sounds like Magnum P.I. swept the awards. I wonder what else they won for that first year (other than leading actor).

Also, it's taking me a while to get the dress of the presenter in the second clip out of my mind! Looks like Tom was a little flustered at first too. Who is that chick??

I'll agree with Pahonu,it is Hartman.

Thanks for posting JJ.The awards are nice and all but did anyone notice who was seated next to TS?

The shirt may be from "On Face Value"
