Hopefully that holds up... Although I'm sure they will continue to screw up windward side traffic at least once a year.

Always anxious/glad to see pics and hear stories of anyone who is able to visit, especially if they make it to the tidal pool!
Even a pic from a drive by the front gate makes my pulse quicken.......I know.....I'm hooked.....or hopeless.....or easy...........naaaaa....just a fan.
Do have the time of your life. Enjoy every moment you can...each one only comes once.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
Thank you guys,
That will be our 3rd visit to the island and to Pahonu and I can only recommend a visit there (and the Kahala Resort Beach) to everyone!
My personal favourite - and I'll also be there is Agatha's home and the scenery around it. Such a lovely neighborhood!
I'll be on a cruise afterwards and I hope that I can post pics before I go on board

Indeed, have fun and I as well will be looking forward to the latest pics of the Estate. Funny, Marty Nesbitt was just on the local news announcing the exact spot of where the Obama Library will be built here in Chicago. I keep trying to picture him in a red jungle bird shirt...Bondtoys.de wrote:Thank you guys,

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
This is one of those moments where you think "why didn't I notice that earlier?" I was just looking in this thread at the plat drawing from 1930 of the land that would become Pahonu, and scrutinizing the surrounding properties and their owners. There have been many past discussions about what the surrounding area was like when Pahonu was completed in 1933: about whether the Shriner's were there, etc... I remember commenting how odd it was that many of the views from upstairs bedrooms in the main house face backward toward the property wall and neighbors instead of into the grounds. The conclusion by many, was that the views must have been open and unobstructed when it was built. The 1930 plat seems to confirm this as both sides of the property are listed as territorial lands for the most part and probably were unbuilt. The eastern abutting property, where the house sits closest to, was entirely government land, and the western property nearest the highway was also. Only a parcel next to what is now the boat house was privately owned, by a Jacob K. Ordenstein. Julia Grossman Wall, whose name appears on Pahonu's plat, was about to develop the estate on what was probably very secluded property with tremendous views in all directions. It must have been an even better piece of paradise, all to yourself!

Not sure if I posted this before but there a website where you can view historic aerial photos. I found Pahonu: http://historicaerials.com/map/# The oldest viewable photo is from 1963. The 1951 photo is either corrupt, or was taken at night.
P.S. You have to enter 41-505 KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY in the search box.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
Any kind of updates on status of the estate.
Probably run into allot of tight lipped people, but one never knows what you might learn if you ask the right person, in the right way....
Main concern......ENJOY YOURSELF!
Be sure to take as many pictures as your comfortable with, especially if you take the Island Hoppers heli-ride.
Do you plan to attemp a visit to the tidal pool? If so, don't forget to check the tide schedule.
Any other MPI filming sites on your list of stops? Plan on doing any of the hikes?
Looking forward to hearing/seeing the memories of your trip.
Maybe I've missed it in past posts, but is this your first visit to Oahu?
Have a great time!
