Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
As of September 2008:
Hard to believe that was over five years ago . . . .
Sam, I think what you are doing wrong is that you are trying to open that *.skp file with Notepad when a *.skp file is not a text document. The Google Sketch-up document may be able to be uploaded to a place like http://www.dropbox.com and then a link posted to it on the forum here so any of us here who want to see it may be able to view it from there or download (one will have to have installed Google Sketch-up to view it, though, I believe -- so whoever wants to view it will need to download and install that first. Isn't that right?). Just not sure about that, as I have never tried that with a Sketch-up file. But dropbox is free, you just need to register with it to upload something. But I have uploaded and downloaded voluminous files from it at work so it will handle very large files.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
Sam, you should be able to open the pahonu.txt file with Notepad, but that won't show the drawing, probably just directions on how to get the program to open it.
Pahonu, can your email SEND the 18MB file? If so, I know my work email address can accept something that large (I get document attachments a LOT bigger sometimes), so if you can send it, IM me and I'll give you my work email and you can send it there, and I'll try to upload it on the web somewhere and post a link for all. Might that work for everyone? (if I can get it to work)
Also, gmail allows attachments up to 20MB (I just tested it and sent myself a 19MB file). So, pahonu, if you have a gmail email address, we can exchange that info via IM.

Birdman,
The real interior of the boat house (Magnum's guest house) can be seen briefly in the episode "Who Is Don Louis Higgins and Why Is He Doing These Terrible Things". Higgins is tied up inside and rescued by Magnum ("If you're Higgins, anytime is the right time! The Gungadin story, NOW!")
As the name would suggest, it is just a storage/boat shed and smaller than what they make it out to be on the show. Hopefully someone can come up with a screen grab for us.
Ah, there's one image of downstairs boat house interior in this thread: http://magnum-mania.com/Forum/viewtopic ... uis#p24276
But from memory the Don Louis episode had a wider shot as well which may show a tad more.

Pahonu, if your email service won't allow attachments of 18MB you're going to have to use a file hosting service. Upload your file then give us the link to download it.Pahonu wrote:My other e-mail won't work either, damn. Maximum 10,000 KB and the model is 18,000+.
Any ideas JJ?
File Dropper seems to be a good one: http://www.filedropper.com/ . But there are many others, too.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
I think the old lady is dreaming when she wants almost $16mil, almost twice the assessed/appraised values, in this decimated econemy. [/quote] Birdman.
Hi Birdman,
Looking at the price and the condition we all think it is priced fairly high, but that might be a great strategy on their part. Eve has one of the top realtors on the island so she knows her stuff. So lets just say for the sake of argument it should be between $8 and $10 million and for over 30 years Eve has had people like us circling around the estate wanting in....it takes just one super fan with deep pockets to pull the trigger. I think they are holding off on viewings and pictures while they clean it up and build even more demand for the place. The word is getting out like we are seeing on TMZ etc. I bet they have a stack of viewings set up one after the other and that is what they want (a feeding frenzy). I bet they get either one offer at full asking price or close to it (the whale they are hoping for - either a nervous super fan who doesn't want to lose it to someone else or a developer) OR multiple offers at much lower prices $11mill, $12 mill etc. (purchaser feels they are getting a better deal, but it is still over price) either way Eve will get more than it's worth due to its television history. Yes they could've priced it at say $8mill and started a possible bidding war that way, but this way they are covered and I doubt she has to sell in a hurry so she is in the drivers seat. Also pricing it high also starts people talking just like us and helps get the word out. I hope she gets a bit more than it's worth as compensation for all of the years of borderline harassment she has endured by curious people like ourselves peeking in, trespassing etc. I know Maui's market is recovering with very little inventory and higher demand has prices increasing so assuming Oahu is also recovering they listed Pahonu at the right time. I've seen this strategy backfire before, but this is a unique property where it's worth a try. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell...you can't blame her for trying...I would do the same thing. I did see an example of this type of strategy going south the other day. It was a property on Oahu (not unique like Pahonu) that had a price reduction of $32mill (not a typo) talk about swinging for the fences!

I just realized that I didn't upload the latest version.
It's in there now.
Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
If given the money, I would offer 10-11. Then I would proceed to renovate, and turn as much of the inside to match the show as possible. I would even consider building a new guest house to match the show in the correct show location, or at least renovating the boat house (because the show at least I don't think ever mentioned or shot it as a boat house), and turn the boat house lower level to match the show exactly, since it looks like it has a close enough foot print to pull it off. Any boats could then live in one of the garages, although I think the surf ski belongs somewhere if not in the guest house.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
I would have hoped that Pahonu would have been heritage listed considering its significance to Oahu and Hawaii and popular culture in general.

The reports are getting worse than the original TMZ. This site has lifted the original TMZ article, continued with its errors, and now is just blatantly fabricating its own facts! According to them Tom Selleck owns the estate, and should have no trouble selling it!
Jeez guy!

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
It will create a buzz that is for sure and Eve will be smiling. I'm pretty sure that any Selleck fan knows he doesn't own the place and anyone with $15.75 million usually has a few brain cells between the ears to ask a few questions and not assume. Right or wrong it is more exposure (FREE exposure) for Pahonu and Eve Anderson which never hurts.
