Re: 33 yrs and counting!
The fact we're all dicussing a show which in its time could have been watched for free on a b&w 10in tv speaks volumes as to just how little we've grown as a culture judging from how pathetic tv is today. I always wonder just low the # of people watching television at 7pm on Thursday night is today ...

Re: Eve Glover Anderson
Well put. At least the iconic estate hasn't been purchased by some dot com kiddy millionaire and bulldozed.

Re: Current estate condition
Oahu IS a wholly different place. This is rarely understood by mainlanders who move there then move back 3 yrs later.
I still think she simply no longer cares & probably doesn't realize or care if others do.
Your cool w/ me Kimbo. Hawaii should secede.

Re: Seasons 1-4 are Superior to Seasons 5-8
I totally agree w/ ^ that. Although it was no doubt totally shot on the soundstage miles from the Anderson estate THE BIG BLOW is still one of my favorite episodes. Seasons 1-3 were IMO by far the best. By the end of 4 the show was done.

Re: TV then & now
It amazes me how very good television was during the MPI production years & how deplorably bad it is today. Yes, I agree the quality of television was better during the 80s but there are a few things at play IMO. In those days we had limited viewing options. Many people tuned into either CBS, NBC o...

Re: TV then & now
Yep...media overload. Life was better when there were only the BIG 3. Now there's simply too much and as you say it all gets watered down to the point nothing is very interesting or unique.

Re: Current estate condition
To get back on track - I don't think Eve cares anymore. The expense to restore the property to "Robin's Nest" condition would not be that much in comparison to what its market value. A ballpark estimate of $200K I'm betting would make it damn near its 1982 condition. Maybe all she needs is polite, r...

Re: No, to new TV show or movie!
If, repeat, IF it was done right it could work and be a helluva hit. I never would have believed the Indiana Jones comeback movie would have worked but Spielberg & Ford pulled it off. Selleck & Bellasario could easily do the same thing. Magnum, Rick, TC, and even Higgins are all still alive & capabl...

TV then & now
It amazes me how very good television was during the MPI production years & how deplorably bad it is today. Hawaii Five-0 coincidentally is the only show I can think of which comes close & interestingly is doing pretty good in a time when most television shows don't last more than a single season be...

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
I said FAIRLY realistic...not totally realistic. I agree on the shootout in Chinatown assessment. Magnum's Hi-Power has a lot longer range than just 40ft away & would have easily penetrated the gypsum drywall on all rooms he had shootouts in. For a locale that has "year-round" summers I've been ther...

Re: Current estate condition
IMO & probably most here $8mill is not that much to own a piece of history which is truly one of a kind. Then again I wonder if Ms Anderson would be willing to sell Robin's Nest at any price. The thought of owning the estate is mind boggling to say the least.

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
That's definitely in a MPI fan's favor. In comparison alot of the big Miami Vice landmarks are gone. Then again for all intents & purposes MPI was a much more realistic show than MV. Although I can't see an early 1980's private investigator thinking he wouldn't stand out driving around Oahu in one o...
