I love a lot of 60s tv but I really hated both Dragnet and Leave it to Beaver. Both were just terrible shows, imo. Jack Webb's hugely successful career will forever remain a mystery to me.
Oh, and the greatest conservative tv show of all time? "Sledge Hammer!" of course.

Re: Season 1 Episode 7: The Cat Who Cried Worl (1.7)
"Hi, I'm a private investigator." "So, you're a detective , huh? " "Actually, I'm a gynecologist." Even if he calls himself a PI to distinguish himself from the police force (which is a bit of a stretch) it still doesn't add up. If someone called him a cop and he corrected them with PI, that makes s...

Re: Pilot to Ep2 Ratings and Beyond
At this rate we won't even get a North American BR release of the original, will we?

Re: Season 1 Episode 7: The Cat Who Cried Worl (1.7)
I don't know. It just seems weird. It's like someone insisting that they are an administrative assistant instead of a secretary. It would be different if there was any difference between a detective and a P.I. We had this conversation here a while back and someone posted that they thought there was ...

Re: Season 1 Episode 7: The Cat Who Cried Worl (1.7)
Not really. I think there was a quick line in Dream a Little Dream about how he didn't like the way "detective" sounded when the female character in that episode said it. Which isn't much of an explanation, imo.
I may be totally misremembering that though.

I always thought that Magnum getting snippy whenever someone called him a detective was kinda dumb. If Sherlock Holmes was cool with being a "consulting detective" I don't see why TM would have a bug up his ass about it.

These titles are extremely imaginative. I cant wait for the two part season finale "Die Dead" followed by "Die Dead 2: Die Deader."

I'm so sick of politics. To hell with both sides, imo. Hearing people rant and rave about it certainly doesn't make me more inclined to like them.

I hope the first episode of the reboot is a remake of "Limbo."

Something like "Boil water? Saw that in a movie once with William Powell and Myrna Loy."jeffran wrote:
Question - can anymore make out what Rick says when they're in the kitchen? Something about Myrna Loy - maybe a movie reference. Magnum responds something like "Rick, please!!"

FWIW I think the top three memorable MPI villains are Ivan, Milton, and the blinking karate dude from China Doll.

FYI: Stuart Margolin recently popped up in an episode of the X Files revival called "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat." He's aged to the point of being unrecognizable, but he gave a very nice performance in a brief role. I like to think the entire X Files Mythology is just some elaborate con Angel coo...

Another thing to keep in mind is that the episode's director, Douglas Heyes , was also the man who directed the Twilight Zone episodes "The Invaders" and "Nervous Man in a Four Dollar Room", so enclosed spaces were his specialty. He also directed some of the very best episodes of Maverick, s...

"And, after that, I think I'll watch The Taking of Dick..."- door slams shut. Feet scurry down hallway.
