Re: No Need to Know (1.5)

This episode contains one of my favorite exchanges between Magnum and Higgins:

Higgins: Ahoy there! Ahoy there!
Magnum: "Ahoy there"? Very good, Higgins...

This is also the first episode where Magnum and Higgins show respect and concern for each other.

Car flub detected:

The sister's MG is the same one Maggie Poole drives in season 8.

Also, I don't know if it's just me, but when Magnum arrives at the estate after almost being driven off the road and calls the dogs several times, it sounds as if he calls Apollo "Paolo". Every single time.

Re: 40

You know, the thing about this episode (other than Patrice Martinez... ) that really got my attention, was TC's behavior. When they wanted to go to the strip club, I had to admire TC and his desire to avoid such a place. While I am no prude, places like that never interested me. Good man TC!...

Re: On the Fly (7.15)

I admit to some confusion on this one - when the police are en route, why would Magnum and Maria - if she were a Mexican Federal agent - leave? And how would Higgins explain their departure? Yes, I wouldn't like to be in Higgins' shoes trying to explain to the police how he defeated a whole private...

Re: Murder by Night (7.14)

After a recent rewatch, I must say this episode is very viewable even in color. Color actually highlights the detail of the clothes, etc. I did notice though that on one occasion Magnum unbuttons his double-breasted jacket when he sits on the sofa. Double-breasted jackets are definitely not meant to...

Quote of the episode: "Lemon?" "No, it was a pretty good car" A couple of sartorial notes: 1) During the amusing encounter between Luther Gillis and "John Wayne" outside Fournier's hotel room, they are both wearing identical boat shoes 2) Like TC, Luther Gillis seems to be fond of wearing both suspe...

Is that who it is? I though it was one of those stock versions they use so often on the show due to copyright issues. Personally I'm partial to the Lenny Welch version. I find it much more soulful. :)

From the pictures, I think it's the same lilac shirt. Maybe the lighting makes them look slightly different.

J.J. Walters wrote:I really, really liked the ending for this episode. It's realistic, it's touching, and it's very effective with the Sandborn/Anderson song. Well done.
It would have been more touching had they used a good version by Lenny Welch or Laura Lee instead of that rancid stock version.

Re: L.A. (1) (7.1)

Dana Delany was really annoying here. Magnum had a lucky escape. There seems to be some sort of running New York baseball joke going on in this episode. The film director at the beginning is wearing a Yankees cap, and the police detective near the end is wearing a Mets one. It was also interesting t...

This episode is a welcome break after the very sub-standard Summer School. Intrigue, commando action and camaraderie - what else can you ask for?

Re: No More Mr. Nice Guy (4.13)

The Carol character was pretty much shoe-horned in in order to boost female ratings. You know, "strong female character", will they/will they not love interest and all that jazz.
