It would have been neat if McGarrett had been brought back for an episode. Even though Hawaii 5-0 was obviously over, that could have been a real fun crossover scenario. Allegedly the network actually tried to get Jack Lord to guest, but he declined.

I can't see many Magnum PI fans embracing a remake television series with new characters. The Magnum we all know and love cannot be replaced; any new configuration will fail in comparison. Not sure if this qualifies or not, but for me, it IS a "Higgins moment" for sure. No dialogue or interaction with other characters, just Higgy baby showing his inner most "self". The scene in "Infinity and Jelly Doughnuts" (8.1) where TM has just come out of his coma and Higgins runs from the sick ...

One more thought-I think the reason they went with this and why it would have any plausibility at all was because the writers changed direction with Higgins character during the first season. Instead of just having him portray Higgins as the major-domo who was stiff, autocratic and rather humorless...
