I'm up to this one next. Looking forward to it. I distinctly remember this episode not being shown in the usual MAGNUM timeslot of 8PM in 1987 here in the UK, rather it was aired much later (10:35pm after the 10:00 news).

This happend with a few US shows if I recall.

I thought this one was a corker, I really did. A thematic sequal to HOME FROM THE SEA but with a surrealism and dream-like qaulity to it to make it more than just a remake. Loved the ending. Also, this seems to be a culmination to the season's underlying metaphor - ageing and maturing. 10 years befo...

Really good episode. The only bum note for me was the guy's death at the end when magnum shot him. The "hears an off-screen gunshot when a character is in the crosshairs, only for it to be another character shooting the bad guy" was a cliche 20 years ago and that in itself isn;t so bad but the actor...

Great episode. Season 7 is batting a high average so far! Why is the episode only 43 minutes long? Is this an anomaly or only the region 2 DVD release? The only unusual thing about the eisode is there are no "additional credits" (episode title, guest stars etc) and I wondered if these were missing f...

I too am going out on a limb here and saying I reckon this is one of the best episodes of the series! Now, I know what you're thinking - and you're right! It's atypical, it's not set in Hawaii, it's a bit contrived - all these things are true and, as a rule I don't like the non-hawaiian based eisode...

Hi Jay-Firestorm

You should check out BURN NOTICE if you get the chance. It's very similar to MAGNUM and very entertaining. It's on FX here in the UK.

Hi Neil Magnum hasn't really had a decent re-run schedule in our country for a while. There were no re-runs in the UK through all of the 90's before Channel 5 picked it up for a complete re-screening in 2001. They ran every episodes at 11am in the morning. Granada Plus then picked up the show but on...

I'm on the fence with this one also. The Vietnam situation is far too complex a question to be answered in episode of an action adventure TV show. I always liked it better when the guys acknowledged their roots in the war but then moved on. It's always going to be a part of them but again, the show ...

Best. Episode. Ever. Why? Two Words. Jenny. Agutter. :P I loved Jenny Agutter as a kid. Walkabout, Railway Children, American Werewolf, Logan's Run - all fueled my prepubescent dreams. Really nice to see her (I'd forgot she'd done a Magnum episode). She was recently in Spooks and still a striking wo...

I thought this one was campy fun as well.

"Gnarly" made me laugh an insane amount.

What was Glen Larsen's involvement in the show?

So, I'm watching the last episode of season 4 and on it is a bonus feature (Region 2). It's a fluff piece about 80's TV with some no-name TV critics talking about stuff out now on DVD. There's some interesting faces amongst the no marks (Stephen J Cannell, Glen Larson, David Hasselhoff) so I leave i...

In retrospect ECHOES OF THE MIND doesn't really stand up to close scrutiny - memorable more for Sharon Stone and the ending than the plotline which meanders, has an out of sorts Magnum at the centre of it and a funnier (and oddly more heartfelt) Higgins subplot. But this? this is why I enjoy this sh...

[quote="VM02"]I think this episode's storyline would be fairly blah without the flashbacks to what the characters were like in 1979, but I guess that was the intent. [quote] I agree. It's a very pedestrian episode without the flashbacks. Maybe the script was a bit 'blah' and they added the flashback...
