Waipo played a great season and they are an inspiration to all other young ball players. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and Hamilton is just 10 miles away by car so I was sort-of rooting for them, until Waipo played them. I then had to root for the Islands in my heart of hearts!

Watched the end of a 5-0 episode on Spike yesterday and during the credits the line "Filmed entirely on location in HAWAII" pops up - certainly cementing the lure of the show. But lordy how those shows look so '70s'." No pun intended. Rob Just read that John Joseph Patrick Ryan (Jack Lord - stage na...

Western Union pulled the plug on their telegram service Jan. 2006, but sold the service to American Telegram. So in the plot Higgins has "died." What if a burned body was found on the estate inside a car. No dental records (perfect teeth) but study shows a man of about 90 with some arthritis, and ev...

Carol I can tell that you put your thinking cap on and got a lot of good vibs. I like the idea of what Magnum would be doing now... and I have penned three stories about the present myself (see fanfiction dot net). I think we have been on the same wavelength. :-) Keep writing - no need to wait for s...

I was thinking about Liev Schrieber as Magnum. He is 6'-3", one inch less than TS. But he is 43 years old, the approximate age of TS when the show wrapped. Hmmm. Probably need someone 34 or so if you're starting over.

So back to TS as Magnum, p.i. I suppose in the year 2010.

Flub#1 in the chopper. When TM tells the team that he is going to marry Michelle he's riding in the front left seat. Sitting there should be the co-pilot (in choppers the commander sits on the right, unlike planes). In a combat situation there would be pilot and co-pilot. And I can't say that TM is ...

"public beach" Under Hawaii state law, every beach is a public beach, and have been so since the mid 80s. Exceptions are some military areas, those closed due to environmental concerns, or a very few nude beaches that have grandfather status. A recent law requires homeowners from blocking beach acce...

Fantastico! The past 31 hours have been a bit hair-raising for me, and it's really great to hear Mike Post's creation in this long version. Something I can bug my car poolers with! :-)

The phrase "on the beach," when said by a sailor, usually means that they will be kicked out and will be - on the beach.

Also can be used as saying that they will be given constant shore duty, and no seatime, or will not be assigned to a ship.

We'e been to Oahu twice, and Maui, Kauai and Hawaii once each in 3 trips (1983, 1985, and 2009). Volacanoes National Park on the Big Island is awesome, Maui is beautiful, Kauai has the canyon, and Oahu everything else. Remember that the state is extremely rural - and if you only see Waikiki you are ...

Thanks for posting Jeff MacKay's answer from the year 2000. It was a little eerie** at first, until I realized I was reading an old post. Jeff played some memorable characters on TV. Shame we lost him in 2008 at the ripe un-old age of 60. Rob ** You see I needed the name as Mac appears, either as a ...
