Stories they could have done

Here's some stories that I think could/should have been explored during Magnum's run: ~A follow up on Elmo Ziller. They never disclosed for certain if Elmo was alive in Mexico or not. Lexi never returned on screen. There was more they could've done here. ~A show with Higgins' half sister. They menti...

Re: The Elmo Ziller Story (2.21)

Something I wanted to add: did anyone else notice that Agatha is the hostess at the resort Higgins goes to? And when she calls for the bellhop/doorman to show Magnum out it's the orginal Icepick before Elisha Cook took over? Pretty funny to see them both in these bit roles, especially considering t...

Percentages

There's things that took place in several episodes of Magnum P.I. that we all see as staples of the show even if they weren't in as many episodes as we recall. Sometimes things we didn't think took place that often happened more than we thought. If anyone gets ambitious they may want to break down t...

Re: Mad Buck Gibson (2.9)

Watched this again last night and only now just noticed that Higgins and Buck Gibson don't share a scene together! Yes, Higgins gets that hilarious monologue about Buck's previous visit to the estate, but McGavin and Hillerman don't interact at all. Actually, they had the scene on the beach. Mad Bu...

Re: Birdman of Budapest (3.16)

I really did enjoy this one. It was mainly a comedy episode, but it still had its serious moments packed in there too. The B story of Magnum having to track down a client that stiffed him was a really good one. Rick and TC being given the task of tracking down the deadbeat client was really good fo...

Re: Mad Buck Gibson (2.9)

This was kind of middle ground for me. The episode was good, but because of the way the characters were designed to be I couldn't really get emotionally involved in it. It was one of the episodes where it was unclear if Magnum was, technically, working on a case or if he was only helping with estate...

Re: The Absolute Worst Episodes

I absolutely hated Legend of the Lost Art. If that was my introduction to the series I have doubts I'd have given it another chance.

Re: The Aunt Who Came to Dinner (7.20)

I thought that this one was a really interesting episode. It was unique in that it was the only time that Magnum ran an investigation at the behest of a relative. It was also one of the few times where we saw the house hold staff inside of the estate (not to mention it was a temp). There were a few ...

Re: Heal Thyself (3.12)

I am posing this question, who is the more dislikable reporter from Magnum, Daniels in this one or Jeff Spangler in Death and Taxes? Both are extremely annoying and pushy and draw the ire and wrath of one Thomas Sullivan Magnum. My vote goes to Spangler. He was not only annoying he was extremely re...

Re: Being a private investigator

I think it bugged me that they looked down on Magnum for being an independent contractor when plenty of professions have those. It's not like he had a lemonade stand next to the estate. Plus, TC set his own hours, prices, etc. all of the time. Higgins, for that matter, was able to hold posistions in...

Re: Being a private investigator

My guess would be that it is sort of a profession without boundries. The hours are odd and the PI sets them himself. The billing is squishy and subject to padding. It's really a lot like lawyers. And PIs are identified as part of the sleazy solo personal injury attorney or the divorce lawyer. But I...

Re: Distant Relative (4.4)

Ok, the age thing has bugged me so watching a few episodes this week I'll try to set it up here. In Distant Relative they establish Wendy is 22 so when the episode aired it means she was born around 1961. Rick said in "All For One" that he joined the Marines in 1969 after the World Series which mean...

Re: This Island Isn't Big Enough (6.16)

I liked the concept and the idea behind this episode. I did not like the execution of it. It was almost like someone told the writer to have an episode where the guys have to find Rick who is danger, but make it a comedy episode and the writer didn't know how to do it. It was all over the map with t...
