Re: At what age did you discover MPI?

Around age 13 or 14 for me, season 3, either first broadcast or summer reruns. I watched it until the end, but beginning with season 5 I was mostly disappointed and hoped it would return to the feel of seasons 3 and 4 (it didn't). I didn't catch earlier seasons until the series ended and was syndica...

Re: Magnum on ITUNES!!!!!

I bought it a couple of days ago and it won't play, on any of my devices. And Apple tells me it's not eligible for a refund. $35 down the tubes. EDIT: Well, I tried again and they play on my phone, but not my computer. That's odd. It should play on your computer provided you have iTunes. I open up ...

Re: Magnum on ITUNES!!!!!

The first episode I watched was Computer Date from season 2 (I think). It was cropped to 16:9. I’m watching the pilot episode right now and it’s in the traditional 4:3 aspect. I haven't purchased any episodes yet, but it looks like 4:3 to me as well, the previews anyway. And, the quality does look ...

Re: Give it a chance

This is my first post here and I expect to be roundly attacked for this but this is just my opinion. I was a big fan of the original series and still watch it today. On Thurs nights, it was Magnum, Simon & Simon and Hill Street Blues, the best night of the work week for TV. I've watched the trailer...

Re: I Witness (4.21)

Question: I was re-watching this, and at the beginning, Higgins suspects Rosine was the inside contact for the robbers. I suppose his reasoning is because in Rick's version of events (though not in Higgins' version, oddly), Rosine stops by the bar where Rick and Higgins are sitting and tells Keoki ...

Quote of the episode:

TC: "Don't kill 'em! He's just stupid."

Fun episode, I love a "Rashomon"-type story. I rated it a 9. Good wrap up to season 4. I haven't watched season 1 in a while, so I'm going to circle back to it.

Re: Holmes Is Where the Heart Is (4.18)

One of my top ten episodes, I rated it at 9.5. While there's a tone of sadness that runs through the entire episode due to David Worth's mental state, it's still a fun Holmesian adventure. Great performances from John Hillerman and Patrick Macnee. Also an enjoyable, albeit short, scene between Magnu...

Re: Operation: Silent Night (4.10)

Operation Silent Night is one of my all time favorites and I actually remember seeing it when it first aired. I just love everything about it, from the lighthearted silly interactions with the characters, to the scenes that illustrate their true camaraderie, to the respect they show for the Japanes...

Re: Distant Relative (4.4)

The role of TC as the voice of reason and peacemaker of the group really struck me in this episode, as well as the excellent acting work by Roger Mosley. Solid episode (8.5 for me), and I agree with the comments about this episode as a two-part episode.

Re: Home From the Sea (4.1)

A great start to the 4th season, with some really moving moments: A 9.5 for me. The ensemble is in place: Higgins is doing something very Higgins playing polo and having tea with Agatha, TC is being awesome with the kids he's coaching, and Rick's out on a date on the club yacht. Just a slight ding f...

Re: Faith and Begorrah (3.23)

A strong end to season 3 (rated 8.0), although I didn't enjoy it as much as season 2's "The Elmo Ziller Story". Not much to add beyond what others have said of this episode, although I'll note the editing for the Higgins/Father Paddy scenes was seamless.

Re: The Big Blow (3.22)

Far from perfect, but one of my top 10 episodes (rated 9.5). The ensemble is present, there's some humor, a bit of a mystery, plenty of Magnum/Higgins banter, more estate interior shots (including the kitchen), and all during a hurricane. Oh, and Mr. Scott, although I wish he would've been given mor...

Re: Re:

I will say one thing for Stuart Margolin: he can really play a character you love to hate. He was the show in this episode. KingKC He did such a great job in the episode, agreed I agree, although I don't hate him. I actually like him, I just don't trust him. Really good episode, I rated it 8.5 alth...

Re: I Do? (3.17)

Whew! Rated 6.5. So, I'm supposed to believe that, after a fairly extravagant wedding, the bride and groom return to work the very next day, and that same day the groom is made vice president of the company? And this is the believable cover for the investigator? And while I understand that Higgins c...
