Re: 4.6 IMDb

I'd like to know who this bc-64953 is. I bet my nice shoes she--yes, she--was probably the age of -20 when the original Magnum aired. Yes, I'm biased because I grew up on the original, but how can someone have watched that show Monday and honestly say it was better than the original? It wasn't horri...

Re: Season 1 Episode 1: I Saw the Sun Rise - Pilot (1.1)

My perfect ending for the pilot, would have been Tom Selleck waking up in bed, under the mosquito net, in the guest house, akin to the episode FLASHBACK, Season 3 Episode 7, saying "I had the worst dream!". That would actually be a great way to end the series, or turn it around into a continuation-...

I have to agree with you on that one. Perhaps they should have named him someone else. It's impossible not to compare minor characters, at least for me.

Re: Season 1 Episode 1: I Saw the Sun Rise - Pilot (1.1)

It was entertaining and I will watch next week, which I guess is the one and only goal of the producers and CBS. So for week 1 at least, they won. I was constantly looking for nods to the original. Aside from the obvious--names, setting, Ferrari, etc.--I really only saw one but I liked it...when Hig...

Re:

My wife and I were watching "We Are Marshall" (great movie), and Ian McShane played the father of one of the players that was killed in the plane crash. Throughout the movie I knew I had seen this guy before, and didn't know who it was until the ending credits. He did an excellent job with his role...

Re: The Love That Lies (8.6)

I didn't think I would like this episode, but it turned out to be one of my favorites of the whole series. The waterworks were definitely flowing a couple of times. The scene between Magnum and T.C. was classic. I watched it three times because it epitomized their relationship. The funniest part is ...

Re: Pleasure Principle (8.2)

When she’s having tea with Magnum, Agatha says, “astounding the way tea restores one’s spirits, isn’t it?” I was immediately reminded of something similar P.L. Travers says at the hotel bar in Saving Mr. Banks, which was, “Tea is balm for the soul, don’t you agree?” It’s not that close, but close en...

Re: On the Fly (7.15)

Was Magnum always in to comic books? More often, we heard about Magnum's love for detective novels and film noir, but I can see the love for comics as part of his making up for growing up early from the war, etc. Also, detective comics would definitely appeal to him. More understandable than him tr...

Re: The Byrds of Paradise

I watched the pilot. If I remember correctly, the mom had died and they moved to Hawaii to start over. That's about all I remember, unfortunately. I don't even recall if I watched any more. Yes, that was how it started. They actually lived in New Haven, which is about 30 miles from me. They left in...

Thanks! I will definitely have to check those out. The theme song was awesome, and of course, written by Mike Post.

Re: Solo Flight (7.16)

Given there was already a 4th July Magnum-goes-all-solitary episode in season 7 with Death and Taxes , was this one really a 4th July episode? I got the impression that Magnum was just super pissed off about a few things and they got the better of him until he went to clear his head. There's no men...

The Byrds of Paradise

Did anyone watch this show on ABC in the spring of 1994? It was cancelled after 13 episode but had so much potential. It was the first real acting jobs for both Jennifer Love Hewitt and Seth Green, and also starred Timothy Busfield and Arlo Guthriie. What a shame it didn't get a chance https://uploa...

Re: Caps hoist the Cup!

I was very happy the Capitals won, and Ovechkin finally got to hoist the Cup over his head. That is a hockey-fan bucket list item I've had that is nice to check off.

Now it's time to bring my Hartford Whalers back home!
