the sobering blow to us fans was right there in the trea leaves of Jesse Stone. The network won't do any more movies because his audience is not the right demographic. That's the killer for bringing tv to the movies.......the original audience is smaller and there is no connection to the younger gen...

another big issue a Magnum movie faces is the gamble they hit on a plot. The love for the show was never about one episode. It was the culmination of watching the characters develop over the many adventures. I don't think you will find a studio that would gamble they can hit a home run with one exte...

referencing the mention of the 21 Jump Street movie........that CANNOT work for Magnum because Magnum is Selleck........and by that I mean the character is not necessarily iconic.......the actor is. Batman, Superman etc are bigger than any one actor that played them and thus those will be recycled, ...

when you say it like that it comes across loudly that Hillerman has an issue being associated with Magnum.......is that so? I don't think so, per se. The way Larry put it was something like, when Hillerman shot his last Magnum episode he promised himself that he wouldn't do another appearance relat...

it was tough to trust anything on the new network at the time........it was ok in the beginning, but the melodrama soon got old.

to this day one of the best, if not the best, opening sequences with all the secret entrances.

I liked it..........nothing wrong with a 'heavy' episode. Mangione was annoying and one of those poorly placed guests. That whole dressing room scene with the horn was so forced it was annoying. I have to think it was by design, but the writers seemed to make the Uggams character unlikeable to the p...

she looks gooooood in that episode. I couldn't deal with the accent, but she looked nice. Good fun episode. I will also chime in on Carol Burnett......there were elements of her character in this episode that you reallly could only appreciate had you known her from her sketch comedy show. She was de...

episode was entertaining enough, but I REALLY did not like the Carol plot. Everything was simply explained with nothing in the episode to support the ruse. Basically........a lazy job of writing. Carol is entertaining, but I also did not like nor find her whole storyline plausible. When she throws i...

I thought there was the wide angle shot that had both characters from the side and then a face on shot of Higgins alone when contact was shown.

I had a lot of fun with this. And I was impressed in the opening sequence, when Higgins is hit by the croquet ball--he sways a bit, then falls backwards, and Magnum catches him and eases him to the ground. It sure looks like John Hillerman really did fall backward, and Tom Selleck really did catch ...

that was a pretty brutal episode. Poor John Saxon comes off as a buffoon. The ending would never fly today with Magnum delivering an Ivan-esque spank. Might be the last time I watch this one.

By the way, stickball is a New York game, we play Baseball here in the Windy City. No Stickball in Chi-Town, huh? Learn something new every day. ;) James, Take a look in the first shot at where TM's finger is when he's racking the slide. I guess it's okay, because you can see into the ejection port...
