Black On White is a personal favorite of mine too. Home From The Sea is one of the best, especially in terms of showcasing the group's friendship and connection. But it lacks one of the essential ingredients that made the show great: The humor. But Black On White hits all the show's major notes: Fri...

I am a bit confused as the 6th book just came out, however episode 5 and 6 are already 'in the can' and were written by TS and Brandman (sp) NOT Robert Parker. Damn, the new book snuck up on me. Now there's already a huge waiting list for it at the library, so I may just have to buy it. Thanks for ...

It was more the realization that- if he had wanted to and ratings had permitted- Selleck could have easily played Magnum for thirty years. I've noticed this before, but TS still looked incredibly good while appearing on Friends. After that he seemed much heavier and line-creased. I suppose much of ...

Great to hear it was #1 in the ratings. Now maybe we won't have to wait so long before No Remorse airs. I enjoyed the fact that it was treated like an actual mystery- as opposed to showing us the shooter early on. It was also nice that the drinking/ex-wife elements were kept to a bare mininum. They ...

The scene where he was wearing shades and talking on a payphone struck me as being very Magnum-esque. Not that I'm suggesting it was a conscious attempt to provide any kind of callback to the series. It was more the realization that- if he had wanted to and ratings had permitted- Selleck could have ...

Higgins: How fiendishly deceptive of you Magnum. I could have sworn I was hearing the emasculation of a large rodent. To my great surprise, I see the sounds are emanating from what I thought was a harmless musical instrument. Thanks for the clip, James. Higgins is absolutely brutal in that one! :lo...

In Two Birds of a Feather, Higgins' reaction after the plane has crashed into the tidal pool: "Magnum!! What have you done?" I also love his comment to Magnum, when he finds him playing the saxophone. I don't recall the exact episode, but he calmly gestures for Magnum to stop before asking: "Magnum....

Nice find, James!

I don't see how this reflects poorly on Selleck, either. It's clearly meant to be a joke. But I can't quite decide which character he reminds me of here. Maybe Sebastian Sabre?

Anyway, when is the site going to represent the rest of the show's "20 years"?

Colleen Camp, who played Mr. Masters' secretary in "The Case of the Red-Faced Thespian". I admit I had to cheat, and checked the pic's url before James revealed who it was. I also never realized she played in Die Hard With A Vengeance, as the curly-haired policewoman who aided McClane's boss. Here s...

I remember watching Evening Shade for a while in the mid-90s. It was pretty funny, and Michael Jeter was definitely a highlight. The only episode I actually remember had Jeter babysitting some kids and putting them in a box if they misbehaved. (I primarily remember that one because he also quoted Di...

When Fonzie strapped a life vest over his leather jacket...then proceeded to jump a shark while on water skis...audiences realized that Happy Days had strayed far from its original premise and intent. It was no longer a nostalgic look back at life in the 1950's, but another tired sitcom that had run...

One thing that sticks out about this episode is that Magnum doesn't catch Dorsey's stalker. He has no clue that the kid exists as a threat, and really just happens to be present when the kid stages a reckless assassination attempt in broad daylight. Even then, he plays no part in taking the kid down...

I think the show holds up because it offers great escapism on the surface, and a strong theme of loyalty among friends at its core. (In that sense, it's actually quite similar to the original Star Trek!) I also have to agree that the show has aged far better than many of its peers. I can barely sit ...

I'm drawing a blank on the one where Magnum breaks TC's binoculars, then leaves him a little "IOU" note inside the case.

I love that scene, but never seem to hit it when I'm rewatching episodes.

(Watch it be in Season 5 as well!)
