Re: Heal Thyself (3.12)

I thought this was a better than average episode. It had a bit more mystery and a bit less humor than the last few episodes which is a plus in my book.

Re: Past Tense (3.5)

I liked this episode and didn't find it that confusing. Three years earlier Lyden had been selling weapons to mercenaries. Magnum infiltrates his organization and busts him. Was the prison break implausible? The multiple links to Helicopter related prison breaks have already dispelled that question....

Re: China Doll (1.3)

Very cool. Heh, they made us wait 22 episodes for the snorkel shot.

Re: China Doll (1.3)

Neat.

I recently received the box set as a gift and I've just started rewatching the series for the first time in years. It's kind of fun watching the opening credits at the beginning of each season and waiting to see which episode the various clips will appear in.

Re: China Doll (1.3)

Probably my favorite season 1 episode. The only nitpick I have with it is that I wish it didn't have the little epilog at the end. I think it should have ended with the blink/gunshot.

Re: Billy Joe Bob (2.1)

This was an odd choice to kick of the season imo. I think I would have liked this episode more if it had maintained a more serious tone throughout. The Texas stereotypes were almost at a cartoonish level for a lot of the episode.

Re: The Eighth Part of the Village (3.4)

I can see that I'm in the minority on this one, but I didn't care for this episode. The plot was fine, but there just seemed to be something "off" about everything else. Tom Selleck played the comedy parts a little too "big" if that makes any sense. Magnum came off looking pretty bad in several scen...

Re: Did You See the Sunrise? (2) (3.2)

There is one niggling thing about this episode that bothers me - how would they Thomas and Rick get away with it? Magnum would have to be a suspect, right? And what did they do with the chauffeur?

It's stupid, I know, but these are the things I think about.

"What the hell are you trying to pull?"

Hillerman was great in this. Not quite as "bloody marvelous" as in Tropical madness, but still very good.

Re: Mad Buck Gibson (2.9)

I absolutely loved this episode. One of my top three from the second season. Darren McGavin was a terrific actor and he was just perfect for the role. During the first act, I was afraid that it was just going to be a whacky comedy episode about an eccentric guest causing trouble for Magnum and Higgi...
