Re: For UK fans

Also in "Never again..never again" we won't see what exactly happened to Lena. Well, we never did see what happened to Lena. So nothing changes there. :) Most people never heard what happened to her either. I vaguely remember reading on this forum somewhere that on the original transmission you hea...

Re: For UK fans

Ugh, Naked Attraction is DEFINITELY post watershed. I thinks it’s after 10pm and I make sure I don’t see that when I channel hop.

Re: For UK fans

TV programme times are all over the shop on the UK channels, you can basically get a programme start at anytime within the hour in 5 minute increments. I'm guessing it's because we have less commercial breaks per hour in the UK than the US hence the 42 minute hour long TV shows end up causing the ho...

For UK fans

In case any UK fan is unaware ITV4 (Sky Channel 120, Freeview channel 26) is showing MPI at 2.40pm each afternoon and repeating it the next day at 8.05am. I only noticed today but they are currently on part 2 of the pilot. As it's on pre-watershed I expect there to be a fair amount of censoring so b...

Re: This Island Isn't Big Enough (6.16)

This is another episode new to me and while it’s a somewhat average episode it did reveal one of those “it was acceptable in the ‘80’s” moments. The scene where TM forces his way into Starr Reed’s office made me feel uncomfortable - it was a man (ostensibly the hero of the story) using his strength ...

Re: Mad Dogs and Englishmen (6.14)

How would Icepick know where Dothan invasion force was? I watched this one tonight and I believe Rick says that Ice Pick had some contact within the arms dealers who were supplying the rogue guerrilla group. I also think the flag with a caricature/portrait of Higgins in the bottom corner is truly m...

Re: Out of Sync (7.19)

EPISODE: 7.19 Out of Sync....Was that too much time breaking the 4th wall? Talk amongst yourselves. I can see your dilemma Ensign, to me a 4th wall break is either a glance or a brief stare at the camera. In this episode TM addresses the camera for at least 4 times directly and that doesn't quite l...

Re: Summer School (6.13)

My trawl through season 6 throws up more episodes I'd never seen before and this is another.....Finally the big question, what colour was the Robin 23 ? I'll have to cop out and say it's green/grey. There’s a whole thread somewhere here about the color of the Ferrari in this episode. I honestly don...

Re: Summer School (6.13)

My trawl through season 6 throws up more episodes I'd never seen before and this is another. First off, Tate Donovan is a master stroke of casting as he has the face/mannerisms of a spoilt brat and his character proves that old saying, the more well off the parents (benefactor in this case), the mor...

Re: Rapture (6.11)

Different strokes for sure. I do remember some of your cricket comments in the Squeeze Play episode. Did Higgins even reference cricket in the series? I don’t recall. With all Higgins’ British oriented activities, including polo and snooker, it is curious the lack of cricket. I’ve always thought, g...

Re: Rapture (6.11)

Higgins has a cricket match and is kitted out appropriately in Italian Ice. If memory serves, the match was called due to rain, leading Higgins to return to the estate early, catch Katrina lifting a pistol from the gun cabinet, and getting himself shot (as bad as, or worse than, the wound he suffer...

Re: Rapture (6.11)

I have a confession- I gave up on this one 10 minutes in. Prolonged underwater scenes are a bit of a turn off for me and annoying kids in episodes are another deterrent. I know - there’s no Carol Baldwin so it can’t be that bad ? Something about the story just made me bored. No judgement here, but ...

Re: I Never Wanted to Go to France, Anyway (6.12)

Another episode that’s new to me which is generally a treat. This episode seems like Magnum does Scooby Doo with a dash of Scream thrown in.
Yeah, the plot’s a bit shaky here and there but it was goofy fun.
Certainly more watchable than Rapture that preceded it.

Re: Professor Jonathan Higgins (5.13)

Pahonu, I only remember the Prince of Wales Sandwich Islands polo team from Home from the sea (Ep 4.1) - every other society was "The Anglo Hawaiian.." something or other society/association. The Anglo Hawaiian prefix is almost ubiquitous for a Higgins group! I think my example was The Woman ...
