Re: Let Me Hear the Music (5.18)

I saw this today and can only echo those who said Dennis Weaver plays a very likeable character. I am so done with hillbilly stereotypes that Hollywood bombard us with nowadays “Oooh, look at the unsophisticated, rustic bumpkins ! What a bunch of rubes” and it was a pleasant change not to have to pu...

Re: Double Jeopardy (2.19)

Man, I enjoyed this episode, but it was pretty distracting watching it as I kept thinking of Alex Baldwin in Rust. I was surprised to come to this thread and see nobody had mentioned it (granted, I’ve previously said I’m amazed that we get so much enjoyment out of MPI that we can comment more than ...

Re: All For One (2) (5.16)

Hi Charybdis1966, You are right of course, I came across All For One (5.16) without thinking to check the comments for the first part, 5.15. Color me red for I was one of many posting there about this excellent 2 parter, but once you get over 900 comments on the MM boards you forget what you posted...

Re: All For One (2) (5.16)

It struck that while this 2 parter is a prominent episode teeming with subtext which give a searing insight into who Magnum and the boys are, there have been a grand total of 20 comments since 2007 while some inferior episodes have reams of replies. Yes, that occurred to me too; the only thing I ca...

Re: All For One (2) (5.16)

This story had so many A Team overtones - did they just lift some incidental music from that programme onto MPI as it was just TC instead of BA Baracus ? I believe the Post/Carpenter team worked on both series. That gripe aside this was a counterbalance to the proliferation of light-hearted “fluff” ...

Re: Professor Jonathan Higgins (5.13)

Having watched this one tonight a couple of accent points. What voice was Timmy supposed to have - he seemed to start off trying to sound English and gave up just before he left his apartment with TM, Higgins, TC and Rick - very odd. One of J Hillerman’s Americanisms slipped through when he said pre...

Re: Little Games (5.12)

EPISODE: 5.12 LITTLE GAMES……Has that office building lobby been used before? Can’t remember the episode, but Magnum and a woman come in pretending to argue about a case, and end up getting past the security guard by making him feel better about getting the shaft by his ex’s divorce lawyer, if memor...

Re: Little Games (5.12)

One last point - what was Jenny Agutter trying to do with her accent? Maybe she was channeling her role as an Australian in Walkabout from 1971. She moved to the US not long after that film so that may be a factor. It confused the hell out of me when those different pronunciations came out of...

Re: Little Games (5.12)

A few things I noticed watching this again around a decade later than the first time: The game TM was playing reminds of a multi player Arcade console game called "Gauntlet". I'd spend many a drunken evening around one of these with my student friends at the Uni bar in the mid 80's. We'd get onto it...

Re: Kiss of the Sabre (5.11)

Reading through the comments since I last saw this in 2013 and I still don't find Cassie Yates anywhere near as annoying as Kathleen Lloyd - her character is a bit of a day dreamer and is naively enthusiastic in her meddling into TM's insurance case. Carol Baldwin would repeatedly con TM and not tel...

Re: Murder 101 (5.8)

My run through Season 5 continues and on second viewing this is a fairly goofy and enjoyable story. Admittedly the plot isn't so great and there are no real plot twists however after the sombre tone of the previous episode (Blind Justice) this is exactly the right type of frothy story to counterbala...

Re: Tran Quoc Jones (5.9)

I watched this one again about 9 years after my original comment (December 2013) and I can now see the John Kerry similarity with the Haysley character, especially in the confrontation with TC and TM ( "People should I listened to me, I was right !". This time round I did notice that Tran Quoc was a...

Re: Echoes of the Mind (2) (5.2)

I watched this again last night and a couple of observations:

Agatha's place is a typical old lady cottage full of yucky chintz.

Sharon Stone is steaming hot in this - crazy or not, even with the huge welder sunglasses in the first part.

Re: Out of Sync (7.19)

I can’t add much to this only to reiterate my main thoughts as per LA - isn’t Dana Delaney so sweet looking ?
It is was a different way of telling a story and I always applaud attempts to be different.
