Re: NEWER DETECTIVE SHOWS

If I can just resurrect this discussion, I watched 'The Glades' and have to admit I quite liked it. One of the few US shows in the last few years to have a decent theme tune that actually got played too (it's a shame a lot of US shows have dropped this these days). I would agree with the earlier com...

Re: The Streets of San Francisco

It's definitely worth a watch.

I wonder if 'The Streets of San Francisco' was ever up for a CBS reboot, as it's two leads got a major name drop in new Hawaii Five O a few years back.

Re: The Streets of San Francisco

No probs - you end up disliking his character pretty quickly even though he looks and talks like Stone. The only notable difference is Malden's wig, way more prevalent on TSOSF, way more visible bald patches in the film. At time of writing you'll find this on a certain well known video site beginnin...

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

Wholeheartedly concur LND, I wouldn't be bothered watching anything with Willis and would happily watch a decrepid old school made for TV movie with Urich instead. I have a few more Urich 'classics' here to watch including 1984's 'Invitation To Hell' which also stars Joe Regalbuto, aka Norman Tuttle...

Re: Season 3 Episode 16: Bloodline (3.16)

I enjoyed this final episode. Agree with comments above on Ethan - his card is more than marked and if he goes the distance it'll be a miracle. I also agree it would be incredibly naff if he turned out to be a bad guy - my money is on him being shot in some crossfire somewhere. What I really want to...

Re: The Streets of San Francisco

I watched all these recently, over a period of a few years. If you want "Mike Stone goes rogue" check out the 1972 movie "Summertime Killer" with Karl Malden in it. He is dressed just like Mike Stone, but working as a semi-dirty cop for the mob. Great film that one.

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

I'm still holding off on the Spenser movies and keeping them for a rainy day. I am currently ODing on Urich's fine array of good, bad and ugly TV movies, none of which have really ever materialised on UK screens. I think Spenser was a bit of an afterthought for ye old BBC too. In the last week, I've...

Re: Hawaii Five-O: Any Fans?

I'm currently working my way through original H-50 (having seen all the reboot). I watched this as a kid in the 80s. Currently up to Season 3, Ep16 'Ten Thousand Diamonds and a Heart' - I have to say, I am enjoying these and they are a very good watch. I have still been unable to track down any ver...

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

In the UK Spenser was shown at various places late night mid-week right up till 1993. I never saw it on original transmission, and only got into it recently after watching 70s SWAT which I also like and thought "why have I never watched this? SWAT's Steve Forrest is better known as ITC's 'The Baron'...

Re: Any Spenser: For Hire Fans?

I love Spenser For Hire and recently watched the entire three seasons over a period of a few months. It's a great show and Robert Urich was born to play Spenser I think (I could never really take to Vega$). For me the stand out season is the final one, way more action and bar two episodes I loved ev...

Re: Season 3 Episode 15: Before the Fall (3.15)

I watched this one yesterday - I didn't think it was that bad. Not sure why Ethan has gone off the rails because Jules fessed up to him about her past. The third seasons has some noticeable COVID limits, but it has been done very well and I am glad this is still on our screens (which is probably the...

Re: The Equalizer

I absolutely love 'The Equalizer' - Woodward is on top form in this show and anyone who hasn't seen it, should check out 'Callan' that he made in the late 60s in the UK. A truly superb actor was Edward Woodward.

Re: No More Mr. Nice Guy (4.13)

I quite enjoyed this one but conning Rick, TC and Higgins was a bit off. One thing about this episode - when Carol is telling Magnum some hometruths about how he uses his friends, is it just me or is her hair slightly different? The gr(e/a)y bits do seem far less obvious in those scenes than when sh...
