Why was Firefly cancelled halfway through the first season? I blame both on the influence of Satan (the author of sin) in Hollywood.

But that's just me, it could be for some other reason.

Re: Was Magnum "Robin Masters"?

I don't know. Hire some actor who sounds like Orson Wells to play the roll, give him some direction now and then ("Hire Higgins, tell Higgins I can live on the estate") then let someone else worry about managing everything. As I said, negotiating with Higgins was all part of the fun. But then there ...

Re: If you could travel back in time ...

Thanks Dobie AND to whoever did the Higgins timeline - a lot of work obviously went into both, and it must have been frustrating work indeed. And thanks Waverly for your input. I've never dug that deeply into putting together dates and places in the various stories, but I knew something was amiss an...

Re: If you could travel back in time ...

Nothing is ever perfect, especially a long running TV series. As many things as I could probably pick apart about it, I really don't think I will. I pretty much like it just the way it is. :) That's certainly fair, and I don't think we should pick it apart -- I was just thinking of those things tha...

Was Magnum "Robin Masters"?

No, of course he wasn't. However, a while back when I was toying with the fantasy of writing THE screenplay for the Magnum, PI movie, that was one of my bright ideas. Magnum began writing those trashy novels while in Vietnam -- we all deal with the stress in different ways, right? He might have even...

If you could travel back in time ...

.. how would you "fix" Magnum, PI ? Yes, even though it was the greatest television series in the history of the Universe - there were a few little things I found annoying. By that I mean less than perfect. *** -- First for me was that if Magnum was a Navy SEAL, he should have been a bit more SEAL-l...

Re: MTQ: Mark's Trivia Quiz

Didn't his mother call him "Tom"? Even though I just watched the entire series recently, I can't think of who else might have .. except .. Mac? No, I think it was Mom.

Also, while it might be more common to call someone "Tom" rather than Thomas in America, it isn't that rare.

Re: The Files of Kenji, Staff Gardner - Robins Nest

Reading through Kenji's files gives me yet another reason to lament that I wasn't here back when the forum was more active. I see it's been several months since "Doc Ibold" (aka: Kenji, Staff Gardner) has been signed on. Maybe someday .... And I managed to catch something which apparently no one els...

Re: Operation: Silent Night (4.10)

I agree with you, Ivan, that most episodes contain annoying little mistakes which could have easily been avoided by asking the average Sea Cadet to look over the script. I singled this one out because it was so phenomenally bad (as opposed to frustratingly annoying) and I had to say something. Plus,...

Re: Season 3 General Discussion

Once upon a time in America we had good television. This seems like as good a place as any to reminisce about the series in general and address Season 3 in particular. I watched most of Magnum, PI in its original run and remember it being one of the greatest shows in television history, but I only c...

Re: Operation: Silent Night (4.10)

I just watched this episode a couple of days ago. The team of Bellisario and Larson weren't known for being sticklers for detail on matters military or (especially in the case of MPI) continuity, but despite it all Magnum, P.I. turned out to be one of the greatest programs in television history. Exc...

Re: The Last Page (2.20)

SPOILER ALERT:- There is something puzzling about this episode which is probably obvious but hopefully one of you guys can explain. Early in the episode, Taylor gives Magnum the names of Linda Greer and Celeste to help in his search but where did he get these names from? When Thomas is eventually "...
