The footage used at the opening of this episode where one can see the Cannes and the Carlton Hotel during the film festival dates from 1978. You can tell from the movies billboards featured on the facade of the hotel. Can anyone identify the movie poster with the yellow background on the marquee to...

Re: Murder by Night (7.14)

What really surprised me on the forum here was that I didn't see any comments about Elisha Cook Jr. (Icepick) not guest starring in this episode. Maybe it was forgotten that he was actually in The Maltese Falcon (1941) playing Wilmer! He definitely should've at least been given the butler role or e...

Re: The Woman on the Beach (2.3)

Only thing I found weird about that movie was that Hillerman's character waited until the morning after Ryan O'Neal's hotel room burnt down to throw him out. If that were Higgins, he'd take no time whatsoever. Hillerman: We would appreciate it if you would check out. O'Neal: When? Hillerman: ...

Re: Dream A Little Dream (4.20)

I liked this episode overall. The back and forth timelines were clumsily handled, you had to pay attention to differentiate between them, so if you were doing some other activity while watching you could lose the thread. This is actually what I really appreciated about this episode. So often in TV ...

Re: Black on White (3.6)

I think I have an answer as to how Edwin "suddenly" had a spear at the climax. He never did! Clearly, the imagined Mau Mau threw an imagined spear at him. Edwin, in his fevered delusion, thought he was holding and aiming the spear at Higgins, but he was either miming it or clutching some other obje...

Re:

The opening scene of this episode shows Magnum being attended to for a broken nose, and rushed to the hospital. Does anyone know why the story called for Magnum to have a broken nose? I didn’t really see how that played into the episode. It was totally unnecessary. It was also distracting, watching...

Re: The People vs. Orville Wright (7.21)

Did anyone else think Magnum looked like Tim Strawn (Kid Shellen's evil brother) from "Cat Ballou" when he had the thingie on his nose?? http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_RnlFOOpc8ls/ShytlbI7fAI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/Vo-LydjD7Ec/s400/Cat+Ballou22.jpg Hahaha, love it! At first glance I actually thought this is a pic ...

Re: On the Fly (7.15)

Pretty dreary going. I gave it a 7 because it has a few good things, but still probably my least favorite ep. of season 7.

By the way, Karen Black is in "Airport '75," not the first one as TM says in his narration.

Jennifer Runyon, indeed! A major crush of mine in the '80s. Note that she does the Higgins "Oh my God!" when calling off "Osiris" and "Isis."

I think that young woman was supposed to be Ron's daughter, Jan.

I liked this one more than many of you here - 8.5.

Re: The Hotel Dick (6.5)

I think this episode was decent to pretty good and kind of fun to watch. This is one of the few episodes where I see hidden meaning to MPI. TM tries a "real job" because he senses the private investigator gig is not working out, especially financially. It is that slow realization, starting with Mac...

Re: The Kona Winds (6.4)

We have acknowledged this episode as a film noir tribute - it reminds me specifically as a twist on Body Heat or, going back to classic noir, Double Indemnity.

Cindy the secretary seemed to be channeling Teri Garr in her delivery! Very good scene. :)
