Re: Thomas Magnum's Gun - Some Documentation
Finally, I must respectfully take issue with the current entry regarding Magnum's gun in the trivia section here: Yeah, sloppy work on my part. I could give you a bunch of excuses like, "I often update the website late at night, after a long day at work", or "I'm not really a gun guy (I'm more of a...

That's from when it was in Stembridge's possession. You can see the half-shelf thumb safety in that picture, so I'm assuming that was th...

Re: Original VW vanagon used in Magnum p.i.
Hi there. A member here was so kind helping me to upload a photo of the vanagon, thanks for that SAM! The vanagon was sold through Universal right after the production wrapped and was bought by a Hawaian Balloon company who used it as an advertisement by driving arround on the island. The vanagon a...

Thomas Magnum's Gun - Some Documentation
The prop gun was a Colt MKIV/Series 70 Government Model chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartridge (AKA: 9mm Luger), serial # 70L33101: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2553/4009074816_0ceeb33d5e_o.jpg Link to NRA video of the gun The gun was formerly part of the Stembridge Arms inventory (a gun renta...

I persoanlly didn't like how the blue on the 45's changed when they went to the 80's. I use to have a Smith & Wesson Model 29 44 MAG (Dirty Harry style..lol) and now they are redoing them and the blue on them looks like crap. I don't know why they can't match original stuff with this HERITAGE line ...

Good catches MaximRecoil, I always thought it was weird how certain things like the thumb sfety changed. My guess is that they were trying to make it look more like a military M1911A1. Some of the time the gun had well-worn grips too; the checkering was worn nearly smooth in parts. My guess is that...

If you have an actual GMT, why would you want to buy a watch that sort of looks like a Chronosport? I'm sure if you keep looking you'll eventually find one. Anybody know more info about the Chronosport? Magnum's Rolex certainly needs no explanation, but other than through MPI, I've never heard of C...

The episode where the asian assassain blinks before he strikes, TC tells Magnum, use the 45. The scene with the guy in the tub shooting holes in Magnum's bathroom mentions it being a 45 as well. Thanks. I figured someone would know. I think there are others too, because I'm pretty sure that Higgins...

Thanks again MR . All of the details about Magnum's gun has, apparently, got me completely confused! I thought you had stated at one point (in some thread, somwhere) that closeup shots showed the gun to be a .45. But you're saying that ALL evidence points to it being a 9mm, but that dialog in the s...

That looks like nearly the same watch as the CWC Royal Navy Military Diver's Watch, with the exception of the date display and the words/markings on the face:

Thanks for the clarification MaximRecoil . I'm still a little bit confused, however. If we see him using both the .45 ACP and the 9mm, how do we know that the 9mm was his "real" gun (i.e. the one that the show wants you to think that he uses)? To my knowledge (and I've seen every episode and always...

This is my theory, which I posted here quite some time ago: I think the answer is "yes...and no". Imagine this scenario: Robin Masters, a real writer, strikes gold with his first novel or maybe first couple of novels, but then hits a slump. He maybe writes a few stinkers, or perhaps, can't seem to w...

Re: .45ACP or 9mm or BOTH?
This is noted in the main site from episode 1.2: ' A closeup of Magnum's gun reveals it to be a Colt Government Model .45 ACP (Series 70 model), Colt's commercial version of the standard military-issue M1911A1. In reality, Magnum's gun was actually a 9mm (though it played the role of a .45 on the s...

I persoanlly don't like the partail/half thumb safety. I wonder if it was cosmetic to appear to be old military spec. or maybe the full safety got in the way more..."didn't like the feel"..kind of a thing? Yeah, my guess is that they were trying to give it a more military look. I like the partial-s...

looks like his trigger must be a "mood" trigger like the old mood rings, there it's silver and not black. The ejection port does seem to go lower, could it be a early model series 80? I've seen some that look like that. I have yet to see any 70's 70G's 1970-1976 thru the 70B's 1981-1983 that were th...
