This is such a powerful episode. Very heavy! I remembered it (from seeing it when it was originally on), after I watched it again last week. But, the videotape scene was still a surprise. I knew what was coming, but still didn't prepare me for it. Even watching it again, I jump! It is such a compel...

A drive from Waikiki to Kailua will have you recognizing many locations including the pier where a number of episodes were filmed. You can stop at Waimanalo Beach Park just past the estate and wade or swim around to the estate's tidal pool. I recommend checking the tide charts and avoiding high tide...

J.J. Walters wrote:I was talking about Oahu with a guy at the pool the other day. First words out of his mouth were, "Stay away from the west side of the island." I guess that's some pretty good advice. ;)
Think of it as being in a remake of "Deliverance" with sun, sand and palm trees.

That is an outstanding tiki bar. You'll need to hire a bartender named Keoki for your next party.

Here is an eBay store that sells big tiki carvings. Just what you need by the front door.

Lastyly, watch this incredible video. North shore of Molokai. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xvDQmNtQaw When you watch this you'll be able to visualize an episode that never happened. It could have been a good one. Higgins attempts to scale the cliffs of Molokai to pollinate the alula, a project fo...

Phew...I'll add some stuff. The windward side gets the most rain. However, that is what makes it green and lush. Summer and early fall are good bets. If you can round up a few couples you might consider renting a home for a week. As with everything, you get what you pay for. If you entertain swimmin...

Ok, been there at least once a year forever. If you want an MPI experience I would suggest staying in Lanikai or Kailua, just a short, 20 minute drive from the airport. There are no hotels. You'll have to rent an apartment or stay at a B&B. Lanikai is sort of an exclusive area of Kailua. Both beache...

Good luck on the move. The various islands are so different. I've been to all of them, lived on Oahu, and they each offer advantages and disadvantages. Oahu can be hard to take unless you're a city boy. Traffic, congestion, tourist traps, crowds, etc. Kauai is beautiful but gets the most rain and is...

Matthew Quigley's Sharps rifle

For those who are interested, here is an article about the rifles used in "Quigley Down Under" starring, of course, Tom Selleck. TS might make a better leading man cowboy character than a detective! Sharps Model 1874 in 45-110 (also called 45 x 2 7/8") http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_...

I'd expect crop circles to pop up soon. Obviously, someone managed to sneak a dredging barge into the tidal pool and, under cover of night, when nobody could notice, managed to scoop up tons of sand and deposit it.........uh, somewhere. Where could it be? Most likely this was done because the owners...
