Re: Quality of episodes over the seasons

By way of update, I just started Season 8. My evaluation of Season 7 was that I had the feeling that the actors (Selleck, Hillerman especially) were getting bored of the show. The quality of the episodes declined substantially during Season 7. I think it was correct to end it in Season 8. It was out...

Re: Season 6 General Discussion

Can someone explain why the episode Way of the Stalking Horse abandons discussion of the reasons why Theo Wolf killed the guy at the beginning of the episode and the relationship between that man and Driscoll who pretended to be Theo's son? It's all left out of the rest of the story.

All estates of Robin Masters?

After watching Déjà Vu in Season 6 I was curious to know about all the estates of Robin Masters. Does each have a manager like Higgins in Hawaii? Have Higgins and Magnum had a connection with all of them?
How many people work at Robin's Nest, and why haven't we seen them all?

Re: Season 6 General Discussion

Déjà Vu was probably my favorite episode of the first five to sixth season. It's too bad that so many episodes weren't as good as this. I just wonder what the element involving TC in Morocco was necessary for the story....

Re: Quality of episodes over the seasons

I didn't mean boring because of mere repetition - after all Columbo and Murder She Wrote were full of repeated themes and scenarios. Magnum in the boring seasons was boring because there was no focused theme. Episodes often just had segments strung together to fill in the hour to focus on Magnum wit...

Re: Quality of episodes over the seasons

Thanks for the insights. So Season 5 could be worse than Season 4? How did it manage to reach a season 6 or 8 or 8? So many of the episodes in 4 seem like they were just invented with no coherent connection between scenes in the same episode except to keep an eye on how sexy Magnum was. Season 1 was...

Quality of episodes over the seasons

I am currently in Season 4, and find most (though not all) of the episodes boring. Is it just me, and do things improve? If not, how did the series last 8 seasons? Furthermore, we don't see that Magnum is actually a detective. He has no office, no business number, no secretary, and in many episodes ...

Anything about family backgrounds of characters?

As is the case with most of these types of shows, the characters are single and no reference is made to family background. Since I am only in season 2 of Magnum, do any episodes mention anything about the family background and upbringing of Thomas, or for that matter of Higgins, TC or Rick?

The father in law.
Then I must have missed something on www.moviesin.co because they didn't show anything about the father killing McWilliams.

Re: Season 1 General Discussion

Believe it or not I never saw MPI in the 1980s. I am starting to watch it online for the first time and am half way through the first season. I think it is a very good and very well produced show in beautiful Hawaii. But one thing does bother me. I am getting tired of the constant sarcasm thrown aro...

Re: Absences of Derek Mitchell and Jake Styles

The first four seasons of the show were good. Season 5 was a disaster. Derek is absent for most episodes, and McCabe was absent for two or three. And most of the time he was there he was sitting in a chair. Conrad must have had some serious health problems. Then they oriented the episodes to obvious...

Absences of Derek Mitchell and Jake Styles

Does anyone know the reason for the absences of Alan Campbell and Joe Penny in the fifth season of Jake and the Fatman, with Robert Bergi as a replacement? And why did the producers bring in Melody Anderson?

Re: JL McCabe in Chair - Jake and the Fatman

Yes, but Ironside was on the go. Most of the time McCabe is just sitting in his office. The theme doesn't anticipate it. You get my drift.

JL McCabe in Chair - Jake and the Fatman

It was a major disappointment....no one expected Conrad to be running around like he did in Cannon, but after Season 2 most episodes showed him sitting down and not doing much, usually in his office. Then there were the episodes where he hardly appeared at all, or when for some reason Derek Mitchell...
