Re: what is the episode where Magnum "jumped the shark"?
In my opinion Magnum never really jumped the shark, but an ongoing issue, even in the early seasons, was uneven writing quality from episode to episode. The credits almost always listed one primary writer for each episode, which was a much more common practice back in 1980's TV. The problem is that...

Re: Rest in Peace Roger E. Mosley
I understand that many of TC's nuances that made him such an interesting and lovable character (his knowledge of books, opera and ballet, abstaining from drink or smoking, and generally being the adult in the room when Magnum and Rick could not) were things that Roger fought the writers and producer...

Re: Home From the Sea (4.1)
Just watched this on 4th of July to infuse a meaningful moment into the holiday and was grateful to be joined by my wife and daughters, who watched with great interest and then equal emotional hush during the closing scene as young Tommy salutes his father's flag-draped casket. This episode reminds ...

Re: The Tom Selleck Thread
A local San Diego TV station did a segment on Tom playing volleyball with Hawaii's Outrigger team at San Diego State in 1983. Fun, rare footage!

Re: Magim’s Fashion Faux Pas
I look at it from the other way around. Several of Magnum's fashion choices have held up remarkably well considering the early seasons were nearly 40 years ago. Any of us can go out now in a Magnum-esque ensemble of blue jeans, field shirt and topsider shoes and look pretty good. Swap out the field ...

Re: The Trailer
I wonder how the reboot will handle Magnum's narrations, or if they'll have them at all. They were invaluable to the tone of the original show and Selleck's worked perfectly with his expressive, up-and-down voice where you could feel the concern, joy or self-deprecation come through. The new guy's v...

Re: The Robin Masters Estate (Pahonu)
First John Hillerman passes, now Robin's Nest is gone, and the 30th anniversary of the series' conclusion only a few weeks away. Sigh.

Re: Magnum P.I. quotes you still use in everyday conversatio
Fun topic! Most of my regular quotes are from Higgins. I work with an English lady and when she has a slip up, I like to say "And you! You should know better, you're BRITISH!" The other one my wife and I use when something doesn't go our way: "Knowing one's station in life. That's the key to happine...

Selleck statement on John Hillerman’s passing
Did anybody else find Tom Selleck’s brief statement on John Hillerman’s passing a little underwhelming? https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/tom-selleck-pays-tribute-magnum-pi-star-john-hillermans-accent-fooled-brits-1057950 Maybe he has said more in other interviews that I haven’t read, but I had...
