Why were soundtracks never released?
Besides the main theme, there's a lot of cool music in all the episodes. My favorite piece of all time is honestly the little funky ditty at the gas station in Beauty Knows No Pain. It's a nice, funky riff on the main theme. So, that said, anyone know why there was never any official releases of Mag...

Re: Milton "The Ripper" Collins
I like to think that this episode might've opened another chapter of Magnum stories had the show continued for a little longer, suggesting that there was a lot more to relate concerning Magnum's days in Naval intelligence - I don't know, like there was some kind of "SPECTRE" organization of dope pu...

Milton "The Ripper" Collins
So I rewatched Death & Taxes recently and I want to hear some of your opinions... Who was Michael Collins? Why did he become so obsessed with Magnum? How did he learn about Philipe? He seemed to think Magnum would remember him. He was shocked when Magnum didn't recognize him. It would seem very, ver...

When did the ratings start to slip?
I've heard that somewhere around the middle of the show the ratings began to slip and that's why darker/edgier elements were slowly brought into the show with a more serious tone. Is this true? If so, what year did it start? Also, which seasons are generally considered to be the best, and which are ...

Re: The Robin Masters theory
I've entertained the same theory MagnumFan presents here. Then I caught something (among many others, but this one stood out.) that shoots the theory down. In "Italian Ice" after Katrina is brought back to the estate and is having breakfast in the courtyard she is talking to Higgins. During the con...

The Robin Masters theory
I've been thinking a lot about the Higgins = Robin Masters theory, and I have my $0.02, for what it's worth... I don't believe Higgins is Robin Masters. I believe they are two separate individuals. That said, I do believe that the Robin Masters character is just that - a character made up by Higgins...

Hawaii Five-O mention (Season 2)
When Rick and TC are running the names associated with license plates while looking for a kidnapper in "The Taking of Dick McWilliams", Rick asks TC for the names associated with the plates. One of which was a guy with Five-O named...McGarrett.

Re: Was Rick a drug dealer?
Come to think of it...I did not think drugs played much of a role in MPI when they could easily have due to the Southeast Asia/Vietnam connections. I went back through the episodes and only found a few that had any connection to drugs or drug running. Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii (Season 1 - Pilot)...

Was Rick a drug dealer?
Am I to understand that in the Pilot, when Rick owned "The Snow Palace", was he himself a drug dealer?

Re: Is Higgins anyone else's favorite character?
While I can't claim that Higgins is my favorite character--I like the four guys equally-- I can say that even as a kid I found his stories to be fascinating (and I love it that Magnum-Mania chronicles those stories in the episode guide). They really were a true ensemble. The show wouldn't have work...

Is Higgins anyone else's favorite character?
Yes, I know TM is the star...But honestly, I love Higgins. He's just great. He's like an older, wiser, more mature Magnum. I also am very much fond of the World War II era and he has the attributes of a classic British gentleman, in the mold of a David Niven type. Anyone else find him their favorite...

Re: Things you DON'T Like About the Show
3. There was one scene I seem to constantly remember (in a negative way) that I think was in Infinity and Jelly Doughnuts where Magnum berates a therapist about not serving in the military or Vietnam. I think Selleck/Magnum came off as too defensive and somewhat sanctimonious. There were a lot of y...

Re: Best and weakest seasons!
I'm not sure what the weakest season is, but of the first half of the show, so far, on my re-watches, I'd say Season 2 may be the strongest. If not the strongest, I'd say it's the Season where Magnum, P.I. found it's groove and where a lot of the side character we'd come to love over the next 7 year...

Re: How old was Magnum's character throughout the P.I. serie
Well, he turned 40 in Season 7, I believe in an episode set in 1987, so doesn't that kind of settle it? Plus, it fits in with the fact that in the Pilot, which takes place in 1980, he refers to having dropped out of the Navy because he realized he was 33 without ever having been 23....33 in 1980 is ...

Re: Why not revive Magnum as a mini-series or TV movie?
I think a major part of the reason we haven't seen a revival is because fans seem to want a MOVIE and nothing less. Tom Selleck really has never been a bankable movie star outside of Three Men and A Baby. That's not a knock on him, it's just how things turned out. But, the emphasis has always been o...
