Re: Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii (1) (1.1)

In at least one later episode is another slightly less obvious poor choice of stock footage, but I'll need to re-watch to find exactly which episode(s). The clip I have in mind is a view from a camera mounted to the underside of a plane, near the tail, looking forward at the landing gear as the pla...

Re: Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii (1) (1.1)

Regarding the wearing of the team ring, no one else pointed out that when Magnum removes the ring from Leboulle's left hand, he's wearing his own on his right hand. Member Agatha wrote, "We feel like we're being let in on a secret when Thomas threatens to tell what Rick's name really is and then lat...

Re: Smaller Than Life (4.3)

Apologies to those who hate posts only about flubs, here's another: Member Jay-Firestorm mentioned : One thing I did find, was that there were several blatant ‘convenient’ plot points in the story; Lee (the boy who Magnum is sharing a hospital room with), just happens to have a modem on his computer...

Re: Birdman of Budapest (3.16)

I can't resist beating a dead horse (or bird  )... lots of issues and a few misinterpretations in this topic and this episode's page regarding Merlin the macaw. Firstly, did "Ms. Barrett" actually say the bird was "KGB trained"? I wouldn't be surprised if a KGB agent such as her, who happened ...

Re: From Moscow to Maui (2.4)

I see the discussion of the "MiG" fighter jet ended a while ago but I wanted to add my opinion here that I regard the use of an F-4 Phantom to portray the "Mig" while being escorted by U.S. fighters that are also F-4 Phantoms as a serious flub. The episode guide here currently only mentions this as ...

Re: Missing in Action (1.9)

A minor technical point I just noticed; from the episode note #7 here: "Photo-negative flashbacks are memorably used in this episode, something rarely seen in television at the time." The photo-negative effect may have been rare, but it wasn't new. I just saw the same effect used several times in an...

Re: Photo Play (6.21)

Flub not yet noted in this episode: When the baddies' car collides with the Ferrari, it's clearly a replica Ferrari, or one with replica parts. Instead of mere mangling of sheet metal, the collision causes a virtual explosion and shower of shattered fiberglass fragments. Only a small number of 308s ...

Re: Photo Play (6.21)

... as soon as Magnum talked about developing the film that Shelly had, you had to know he'd be busting into the darkroom and destroy Higgy's developing in one way or the other. One thing many darkrooms have is an outside light that can be switched on from inside the darkroom as a way of signalling...

Re: The "square slab" in the tidal pool

My 2 cents' worth- Gun mount: Not likely, based on location, shape (wouldn't a solid block be easier to make and just as effective?) and lack of apparent mounting points. Pillbox: Not likely, based on size, location and aperture configuration. Lobster cage: Not likely, based on configuration (awkwar...

Hawai'i "Facts" on MPI

Several "facts" about Hawai'i have been mentioned on the show and I was wondering if they are all true. Here are the ones I remember: There are no railroads in Hawai'i. (I find this hard to believe - even some small island nations in the Caribbean have railroads.) There is no quicksand in Hawai'i. (...

To add to the flub about the choppers being different, you can see that the FAA ID number on the top side of one chopper is N5034A and the other is clearly N1095A. Also, the 500C has no FAA ID on the bottom in large white type like the 500D which clearly had the N1095A. How sure are we that one hel...
