The first time I watch a show on dvd, I'll go in sequence.
Afterwards, I always scan the episode list and select whichever episode feels right at the time.
So basically, I let my little voice decide.

I'm surprised they didn't include at least one episode to showcase the "lighter" side of Magnum. The finale also seems like an odd choice, since I'm not sure it would be that satisfying to viewers unfamiliar with the show's history. A decent lineup, though, and perhaps a better selection than what t...

They did a fairly good job of adapting the books up until "Sea Change", which is when things began veering towards the Unemployed Jesse arc. Ironically, the first book they skipped ("High Profile") would've been a decent fit for the TS version, since it revolved around Jesse dealing with a high leve...

Between The Bridge on the River Kwai and the villain, it definitely felt like TS was drawing inspiration from "Did You See The Sunrise?". My main criticism was the pacing. All of these movies tend to be slow starters, but this one seemed to take forever to kick in. I mean, there's only so many times...

Bruce Willis and Pierce Brosnan are two more 80s stars that made the transition pretty well. As for Selleck, I think he got off on the wrong foot by trying to play against type early on. The fact that his first three ( Magnum -era) films were set in different time periods didn't help, either. Once a...

Yaphet Kotto, Albert Popwell and Robert Tessier were the bad guys. That's quite a trio! Yeah, part of the fun is just watching the opening credits to see how many character actors will appear. There's a lot of Magnum (or rather, Universal) alumni that crops up quite often. I initially planned to ju...

Just weeks after raving about the success of Blue Bloods , CBS has now fired the show's creators, Mitchell Burgess and Robin Green. (The same duo the network previously touted for their work on The Sopranos .) The executive producer says he wants the show to have a greater emphasis on being a proced...

I wonder if the pilot and finale will count as four episodes? Or if they'll simply compile it by adding something from each season? I'd probably add The Woman on the Beach for its supernatural tone, and something like Black on White or Tropical Madness for the Magnum/Higgins focus. The natural tende...

I've recently been watching the first two seasons and am a little surprised by how well the show holds up. Yes, it's silly and the writing is by no means great, but the characters are so much fun it doesn't really matter. I also watched the lone dvd extra- a brief interview with Stephen J. Cannell- ...

I guess we can stop wondering whether the show will be renewed for a second season. It's now considered the "most commercial" of any new show this season. It might not be the sexiest of this year’s new U.S. shows, but Blood Bloods has proved the most commercial at home and internationally combined. ...

The last one I think was the cold case episode they did with the kid. He definitely got to act in that one. I thought that episode marked one of the few times you could see a hint of Thomas Magnum slipping out in TS' performance. Frank Reagan has a scene near the end in which he attempts to get a s...

It's kind've surprising there aren't more great series finales that immediately spring to mind, even though most classic shows were never given advance warning of cancellation. Still, you'd think the number would have grown considerably over the past few decades. Instead, I think there may actually ...

Seems as if the writers took all the great things about season 1 and tossed them out. It's the result of Fox replacing the original showrunner with Matt Miller ( Chuck ; Las Vegas ), who then implemented changes such as a revamped theme, two female cast additions, and lots of pop tunes added to eac...
