Magnum Mania!

I just ordered a Navy SEAL patch to sewn on the camo trucker hat like Magnum wears. I thought it would be a good fishing hat for me even though I don't get to go that often. Anyway, the site on the Magnum Gear links is out right now so I went to another site to get it. I can't wait to get this so I can add another hat in the TM collection.

I got the hat and patch sewed on. I picked it up Thursday and it looks pretty good. I now have the Al's hat, the Tigers hat, and his camo Navy SEAL hat.

I am still kicking around getting the Da Nang hat, but I'm still not sure about it. I guess my big issue would be getting a fitted hat like he wore on the show. Most of the hats I have seen look cheap. Anyone have any advice?

You can get a very nice quality fitted blue cap at Foot Locker. The DaNang patch can be found at a number of sites online, just be careful. I've gotten 3 of them before I found the right one. The first 2 were almost a neon green/yellow color. There are some that look to be a lesser quality, but look more authentic.

By the way has anyone found the SEAL patch with the OD green border instead of the black one? TM's had a green border around it. Also,I've found the Duck Hunter camo cap is impossible to find.

Thanks for the tip N1095A. The only SEAL patches I have seen are black border. Maybe his black had faded a little to have a green effect? My hat is a fairly close model of what TM has, but I couldn't find anything spot on with what he had. This is as close as I could get:

That's actually better than any I've found. I'd say it's close enough. Funny, back in the day I had the exact cap minus the seal patch. I must have been about 12.

I had a few trucker hats back in the day as well, but I never had a camo. I had the Marine camo hat, and I also had a camo jungle hat.

The camo is pretty close.You're right the "duck Hunter" or marine spot camo is very hard to find, at least in that type of hat. I found a VON DUTCH hat that has a color and pattern very close to the duck hunter but it had a patch...which was an iron-on type. I reheated it and the patch came off and then I had the seal patch simply put right over the spot the von dutch use to be. The von dutch was a little bigger patch and if you look closely and know where to look you can barely tell. If you didn't...you wouldn't notice. I found the hat and the seal patch with the o.d. green border on EBAY. Ever notice in an earlier ep. of Magnum TC was the one wearing the cap? And in at least one ep. you can see both camo caps on his hat rack. One is the duck hunter camo, the other greener..more so a traditional woodland camo. Whish I could remember ep.

You guys are too damn observant for me! I need to start paying better attention so I can catch some of this stuff. While my hat is not spot on I am still pleased. It serves the purpose, and I may even try to look for the perfect match one day. My wife already thinks I'm a nerd collecting all of this stuff!

YOU NERD!!! My wife always laughs and calls me a little kid. On my days off I'll go through the shows making little notes and checking things out and maybe trying to replicate them.One night she was in the mood for chilli dogs, so that night I made chilli dogs and bought some Hormel chilli and marked out the "EL" and "H" and made ORM chilli like in the ep. "The little girl who" also had the figs newtons and coors beer..she laughed her head off and said.........."NERD" and I replied...YES, but you married me!

Don't forget the "MAN" Chewing tobacco in Squeeze Play. You can chew some of that next time you go play softball with the Paddlers.

here a link where a similar cap with Marine camo can be found. I Used this to make a cap with the Seal Patch. The only problem is that the mesch part of the cap is not od green, as it is in the Magnum Series. The mesh part is also camo. Its also difficult to find the old Seal patch. The new one is quite different.
