Interesting article on the challenges of filming in Hawai’i.

Residents of Ainakea Way... the original “Hawaii 5-0” won neighborhood support by offering food or financial compensation to people who might otherwise have felt put-upon.

“They would say, ‘Feel free to use our facilities, or eat our food,’” Wehrman said. “They were really nice about it.”

But “Magnum,” he said, has been different.

“It’s like they’re from New York,” he said. “It’s just crap. This has no place in Hawaii.”

Wow, that's really not cool. They should take some cues from how they did it back in the day, but even then, there're three times the people and congestion in Hawaii now than there was back then.

I wonder if this is just a sign of the times. The original Hawaii 5-0 went off the air in 1980 some 38-39 years ago. I think people were much more considerate back then and now they are just more rude and definitely more profit oriented (or should I say greedy). Just a thought.

Think you are both right.

Population much higher.

Traffic/parking in O'ahu is a nightmare as is.

Plus people more impatient and on edge these days in general and, as KingKC said, just more rude.

Was a neat article though. Production teams need to change with the times a bit too.
