Magnum Mania!

Well, our first clue (I assume) from Lenkov about the theme song. He posted a snippet on Instagram of him talking about the H50 (reboot) theme song where he says, "The first thing they say to you is don't mess up the theme song" and "you don't want to mess with something that is great, something that works, something that people are looking forward to".

Before this video he posted today another video with H50 and wrote "Cleaning out my computer and came across the old # h50 gem." So I do not know if it has a connection with Magnum P.I. But I think anyway, knowing that PL is a huge fan of original Magnum P.I., he will try to keep the theme song as close as possible to the original.

Besides theme song, I wonder if they will keep other elements of almost every episode, like Magnum's monologue, and the sequence at the beginning of the episode when they show the scenes we will see later in the episode.

Well, if he doesn't want to mess anything up, I suggest he gets Mike Post on the horn ASAP! Perhaps an updated version of the theme song, with Post composing.

If he doesn't do the monologue with TM....it WON'T be Magnum PI....PERIOD!

If it isn't broken then why fix it! He was smart enough to use the original HFO theme song for that reboot....he should do the same with MPI!

So, those opening scenes were part of the original broadcast of the show? I didn't see it much in the 1980s, and always figured it was done for syndication or the DVDs.

It's not a theme song. A "song" has singing in it (and the theme doesn't, thank God). It's theme music.

I was thinking the other day, it would be a fun "nod" if that in the first episode someone was watching TV where you couldn't see the screen but you heard the original theme playing.
