No, it's a Van Dyke. A goatee is the bottom part.

Core 4 wrote:President CBS about no comma in the title and no mustache:

CBS’ new “Magnum P.I.” is a reboot of 1980s series “Magnum, P.I.” There are two distinct differences in this version: 1) A goatee instead of a mustache for the titular character, and 2) No comma in the title.

CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl explained both decisions Wednesday morning during the network’s annual pre-upfront breakfast with reporters.

“We debated the ‘Magnum’ thing for quite a bit, believe it or not,” Kahl said about the latter. “There was a comma before, we’re taking the comma out this time to streamline things.”

“I think there’s a little science behind it, actually,” he continued. “In the new world of searching, commas are not your friends.”

Perhaps that explains rival ABC’s issue with the one-and-done “Alex, Inc.” (It definitely does not.)

After the eggs benedict, the “Magnum” facial hair switcheroo served a little bit more as comic relief than sincere Q&A.

When asked by a reporter about how “rigorous” the debate was about if new star Jay Hernandez ought to copy former lead Tom Selleck’s trademark look, Kahl came up with the following:

“It’s a goatee, so it’s… half-mustache,” he said. “Thom [Sherman, a senior vice president] and I dictated that he have a goatee.”

I think CBS may have solved the entire Space/Time conundrum,,,,,Too many commas in the equations!!!

Wow! What did I just see!? That's going to take a while to sink in!

Fast and Furious Magnum for sure! Although there was no doubt that element was going to be in the show. I like some of the other things I saw, though. I like the actors playing Rick and T.C. I like all the attention to detail (as much as they can anyway) to the original: the hats, the ring, the car, etc. But man! This is so completely different from the original in almost every way it's not even funny! But how can it not be, really. Today's network TV is a completely different animal than it was in the 80's. I'll tell you what, based on the trailer, this show is going to be a monster hit! Really enticing trailer! :)

As for the missing comma, makes total sense. In this age of Texting and Twitter, who uses comma's anymore, right? ;)

May be the minority here...but I'm with ya JJ. It has all the ingredients needed to "capture" the target market group it's designed for.

Starting with a core that's already proved itself...well that can't hurt.

Either way it goes...I just like seeing that 308 back on the road on my screen again! :magnum:

The trailer shows both Fcars being torn to shreds....hope the 308 makes a comeback...but I'd guess if it were one over the other, the 488 is more likely to be "replaced" in kind.

We may not like it cause it's NOT the original, but I think it IS going to be good! Ok....am I voted off the island now? :magnum:

It seems that Rick will drive black Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster which is successor of original Rick's Mercedes-Benz 380 SL:

EDIT #1:

Inside door handles, front, the fact that it's two seater and a convertible gave it up. I first tried to find similar Nissan, later Chrysler, Chevrolet and then i remembered original Rick's Mercedes. I searched for a newest successor of it, compared and it was a fit!
